This year's Honorary Heart of Sarajevo Award at the 31st Sarajevo Film Festival is going to the versatile actor Stellan Skarsgard. Recently, he expressed his admiration for one of the largest film festivals in Europe, as The Hollywood Reporter mentions. He said:
"The Sarajevo Film Festival remains unwavering and driven in its aim to highlight subjects of great consequence, underscored by an intense lust for life. I love going there."
The organizers of the film festival highlighted that he is one of the patrons of the Katrin Cartlidge Foundation, which offers scholarships. In addition to that, Jovan Marjanovic, the film festival's director, praised his longtime career.
As of this writing, the actor has worked on several blockbusters, including but not limited to a couple of Pirates of the Caribbean films, the Mamma Mia! franchise, and the Dune franchise.
For Stellan Skarsgard, this will be the first lifetime achievement and first award at the Sarajevo Film Festival. The event will be held from August 15 to August 22, 2025, and Dino Mustafic's The Pavilion will open it.
The Sarajevo Film Festival was established in 1995, but the Honorary Heart began in 2005. Since then, several celebrities have received it. We will add a list of actors who have received it below.
