In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Jennifer Aniston expressed her interest in revisiting one of her previous characters from Horrible Bosses. Considering that she shot to fame by playing the role of Rachel Green in Friends, it came as a surprise to many fans that she'd opt to play the role of Dr. Julia Harris instead.

When asked about her preference in reprising the role of one of her former characters in the interview, Aniston was quoted as saying:

"Oh my God, this literally came up the other day: Horrible Bosses. Jason Bateman and I were talking about that, and Charlie Day has been talking about it a lot too. So that's something that we think would be super fun."

She then went on to expound on the reasons that made the idea particularly appealing for her:

"The characters are hilarious, and we need comedy. I personally think comedy is a necessity. That's one that we would have a really fun time, I think, going back to, seeing where those crazy cats are today"

Why "Horrible Bosses" holds a special place for Jennifer Aniston?

The Horrible Bosses film revealed a different side of Jennifer Aniston that the viewers had not witnessed yet. Her role as Dr. Julia Harris in this film was nothing like the likable romantic comedy roles she had become known for. Aniston starred together with Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis, Kevin Spacey, and Jamie Foxx in the movie.

The movie was released back in 2011 and became a huge success at the box office. Jennifer Aniston had reportedly grown so attached to the role the first time around that she instantly answered in the affirmative when talks began regarding a sequel.

She shared her excitement about the prospect of returning to the franchise in an interview with Drew Turney, in which she was quoted as saying:

"We loved the first one so much. I loved playing Dr Julia. I was so sad when it ended. It ended too soon and there was more mining to do for her. I wanted to get back in there, you know. I was thrilled we were asked to come back and do it again. The boys got to be there for the duration of the original film but the rest of us were only coming in for bits and pieces of it at a time. Usually at the end of a film you’ve done a few months and you’re ready to put a character to bed but this one left me wanting more."

When discussing her future aspirations in the interview with PEOPLE, Jennifer Aniston also shared her plans to star in a Broadway play. Meanwhile, she will also appear in an actor-producer capacity in the 4th Season of The Morning Show, which is set to be released on Apple TV+ this September 17.
