In the now-viral video, the Midwest princess seemingly pushes a black woman aside as she walks through the red carpet. Some criticized her for perceived rudeness, while others defended her. They argued that the clip was misleading and lacked context.

People on platforms like Reddit and X had polarizing reactions. While some supported the woman who was possibly an event worker, others defended the pop artist. A user took to Reddit to describe their feelings on the incident, and wrote:

“I think she is part of her team, likely an assistant. She is carrying what looks like their purses. Inexcusable behavior either way.”

“She is STUNNINGGGGG too. Props to her for being so professional… unlike others.” A user reacted on Reddit.

“It looks like she maybe nodded and looked over to someone to indicate she was okay, too? I at least hope someone checked in with her; it looks like someone probably did.” Another person added.

“It looks to me like Roan's date or whoever turned around and possibly told her to stay back (she stops walking forward) and she keeps that same expression she has and nods to her like "I get it,"” A user said.

While others argued that the footage was misleading and the users were unnecessarily attacking Roan.

As per a report in Teen Vogue, Chappell Roan presented the award for Breakthrough Music Stylist of the Year to her stylist Genesis Webb.

In addition to the singer, many other celebrities, designers, and industry icons such as Hailey Bieber, Adriana Lima, Tyra Banks, Ashley Park, Betsey Johnson (who was honored with Lifetime Achievement award), Alexx Mayo, Lizzo, among others, were at the event. It was hosted by comedian Matt Rogers, according to a report in USA Today.
