In the adrenaline-charged world of John Wick, a new assassin is stepping into the spotlight. Ana de Armas shines as Eve Macarro in Ballerina, the franchise's first female-centric spinoff. Ballerina takes place between John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and Chapter 4, with Eve, a killer trained by the Ruska Roma, on a personal quest for revenge.
While Wick wanted out of the kill-for-hire world, Eve seems to be going all in, giving the franchise a fresh perspective and opening the door to new storylines. But is Eve the new John Wick? Here's what the actress has to say. In an interview with ScreenRant, Ana de Armas detailed how Eve's character will unfold in the film.
Adding on how it's similar to John Wick's fate in the franchise she says,
"She's now in a place where John Wick was...Really, this could go anywhere and I'm sure it will be really exciting."
This is not the first time Armas has addressed the close-knit connection between Eve and Wick. Previously she spoke to The Direct about how her character is not a female version of John Wick as she told the outlet,
“I mean, we didn't want to do a female John Wick. We wanted to do Eve Macarro, you know? I think she's different. She is and she isn't, right? They're both after revenge. She's coming from a lot of pain."
She then adds how her character is different from Wick as she continues,
"John Wick is very experienced, and she's not. She's just starting in this world, and she will have to learn the consequences of not listening to people's advice and telling her to stop pursuing this or that. And you know, when you let the emotions get the best of you, you can get yourself in trouble.”
