Is there a post-credits scene in Predator: Badlands? Details revealed

Predator: Badlands is finally here, and it's the third film by Dan Trachtenberg in the franchise. While it did not cross the 90% mark on Rotten Tomatoes, it came close. As of this writing, the film has an 86% score on the review aggregator website. Its consensus reads,

"Director Dan Trachtenberg continues to take the Predator franchise in exciting new directions with Badlands, a rollicking adventure that transforms one of cinema's most iconic brutes into a hero worth rooting for."

The film sets up a stage to be explored in the future, but it does so in the mid-credits sequence. However, don't wait for the credits to finish, as there is no post-credits scene in the movie.

You won't see any humans, but an android named Thia, whom Elle Fanning is portraying, and other creatures. Above all, the young Yautja warrior Dek is leading the story. Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi portrays him and his father, Njohrr, who is also the Apex Predator.

What happens in the Predator: Badlands mid-credits scene?

The Predator: Badlands mid-credits scene plays out just after the title card is flashed, and Dek has defeated his father to prove himself. Now that he is preparing to live peacefully and leave the place with his friends, Thia, an android, and Bud, a Kalisk from the planet Genna, several Predators arrive.

At first, it seems like another brawl is about to break out between Dek and these Predators, but then a ship emerges in the sky. And when Thia asks Dek about it, he tells her that the ship is her mother's.

While there is no word on the future of the franchise, the arrival of his mother might mean another confrontation. This will be interesting, as we haven't seen a female Predator in the films before, so Predator: Badlands might have given us that if there are plans for another film.

However, Dan Trachtenberg has already conveyed to us that he has plans for three Predator films other than Prey (2022) and Predator: Badlands. Additionally, there were some discussions to bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger as Dutch, the original protagonist from the first film.

But we will wait for more updates if development moves ahead on this.

What happens in Predator: Badlands?

Dek is a relatively small Predator on Yautja Prime, and he needs to prove himself as a Predator in front of his father. Initially, he is marked for a kill as he prepares for his first hunt with his brother, who is the one supposed to be killing him. However, his brother doesn't do it and is executed instead.

But he has already sent his brother Dek off to a different planet called Genna. There, he comes across a range of life-threatening situations and becomes friends with Fanning's Thia and a Kalisk called Bud.

Following their risky adventures on the Planet, which also involve Bud's mother, who tries to kill Dek, they all become a trio. Sadly, Bud's mother dies, and they all return to Yautja Prime, where Dek confronts his father, defeating him to become the ultimate Predator.
