Think you spotted the Chiefs’ star tight end in Happy Gilmore 2? You’re not wrong—Travis Kelce makes a surprise appearance that’s hard to miss. The NFL star trades the gridiron for a wild comedic cameo in the Adam Sandler sequel, and honestly? He goes all in. Kelce plays an uptight country club waiter who ends up clashing with Bad Bunny’s character, Oscar, a rising golf star. In a bizarre twist straight from Sandler’s playbook, Kelce’s character fires Oscar over a spilled drink only to later reappear in a dream sequence, tied to a pole and slathered in honey as a bear closes in.

Kelce called the whole thing “surreal” on Instagram, posting photos from the set with Sandler and Bad Bunny. Along with Sandler, Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen return, while Kelce joins a list of real-life athletes making quirky cameos.

Kelce's cameo also earned the support of his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, who made sure to promote the film on her Instagram, rating it a 13/10. For the record, this is only Kelce's second appearance in a film, and the first one being an actual role.

Nearly three decades after Happy Gilmore swung its way into pop culture, Adam Sandler returns in Happy Gilmore 2, older, wiser, and still very much ready to rage on the green. This sequel doesn’t just cash in on nostalgia; it updates Happy’s world with a bittersweet backstory and a fresh generation of chaos.

The film begins with a shocking tragedy: Happy accidentally kills his longtime partner, Virginia (Julie Bowen, in a short but emotional return), during a golf game gone wrong. Guilt-ridden, he vanishes from the public eye to raise their five children in peace. But when his daughter Vienna (played by Sandler’s real-life daughter, Sunny Sandler) earns a spot at an elite dance academy in Paris, Happy is forced to return to the game to pay her tuition.

Unfortunately, the sport isn’t the same. Enter “Maxi Golf,” a loud, viral-friendly version of golf ruled by the flamboyant Frank Manatee (Benny Safdie). He wants Happy to join, but Happy refuses, saying it insults everything he loves about the game. The conflict builds toward a showdown: old-school golf versus Maxi Golf, in a winner-takes-all tournament.

Joining Sandler are several returning and new faces. Christopher McDonald is back as Shooter McGavin, now less villain, more mentor. Bad Bunny appears as Happy’s new-age caddie Oscar, and Travis Kelce pops up as a snarky country club waiter in one of the movie’s most bizarre dream sequences.

Happy Gilmore 2 sticks to its roots: underdog spirit, offbeat comedy, and a little heart buried beneath the hijinks. It’s a sports comedy, yes, but also a story about grief, legacy, and staying true to what you love, even when the game changes.

Happy Gilmore 2 is now available to stream on Netflix.
