Jordan Peele returns with another horror film, this time as a producer of HIM, set to be released this fall. It's a psychological horror tale that will dive into the emotional depths of an up-and-coming American football player. Universal Pictures has revealed a new trailer for this feature film, which takes us further into its battle for fame and survival.

Before going through the specifics, let's look at the official logline for the movie. Per IMDb, it reads,

"A promising young football player joins an isolated compound to train under a dynasty team's aging quarterback."

The project comes from filmmaker Justin Tipping, who made his directorial debut with the 2016 adventure drama, Kicks. It follows a 15-year-old kid trying to get back his pair of Air Jordans from a group who stole them. Tipping's latest film also centers around themes of sports drama but leans more into the horrors of the experience.

In April, Universal shared an official teaser trailer for HIM, offering a glimpse into its intense and chaotic ride. Four months later, it reveals another trailer that feels even more brutal and horrifying.

Initially, we saw a young football player getting a chance to learn from his idol. However, the experience was far from dreamy or exciting. Instead, it felt like he was walking through a nightmarish reality, unsure how to survive in the high-stakes football landscape on a much bigger scale.

The latest trailer shows the young man taking a shot at being famous, determined to be the GOAT (Greatest of All Time). He enters the space with the hopes of being the next big thing. However, it's not all fun and games. He wakes up to this realization after meeting his lifelong hero, now an aging player on his way out of the game.

Although barely two-and-a-half minutes long, the HIM trailer offers just enough information to get us amped up about his journey. It shows how his ambitions lead the young player down a dark rabbit hole with no end in sight. As he tries to perform to his best potential, his mentor screams at him like it's the last day of his life.

More details about HIM, the Justin Tipping directorial

It's been a long journey for the latest Monkeypaw Productions project, which began its journey as a script, reportedly in 2022. Skip Bronkie and Zack Akers were the co-writers for a screenplay, then titled GOAT.

Later, Justin Tipping was brought on board as the director and co-writer for this feature film, co-produced by the Get Out director Jordan Peele. Its official plot synopsis reads,

"Former college wide receiver Tyriq Withers plays Cameron Cade, a rising-star quarterback who has devoted his life, and identity, to football. On the eve of professional football’s annual scouting Combine, Cam is attacked by an unhinged fan and suffers a potentially career-ending brain trauma."

It further reads,

"Just when all seems lost, Cam receives a lifeline when his hero, Isaiah White (Marlon Wayans), a legendary eight-time Championship quarterback and cultural megastar, offers to train Cam at Isaiah’s isolated compound that he shares with his celebrity influencer wife, Elsie White (Julia Fox). But as Cam’s training accelerates, Isaiah’s charisma begins to curdle into something darker, sending his protégé down a disorienting rabbit hole that may cost him more than he ever bargained for."

HIM is scheduled to be released in theaters on September 19, 2025.
