Lewis Pullman has recently shared his excitement about working with his father, Bill Pullman, in his forthcoming film, Spaceballs 2.

It is the sequel to the 1987 Mel Brooks parody, in which Pullman starred as Lone Starr and Daphne Zuniga as Princess Vespa. The Thunderbolts actor will be playing the character of their son, Starbust, in the upcoming film.

During an interview with People magazine on December 14 at the Los Angeles premiere of his film, The Testament of Ann Lee, he said:

“It was a dream come true. We just wrapped, and … every day was such a trip. It was kind of like a … felt like a bizarre simulation. I just couldn't believe my luck.”

He continued:

“We've been wanting to do that forever and we never knew whether we could get the chance or not. And so doing it on a movie like Spaceballs 2 was just like, ‘What simulation … what world are we in right now?’”

The filming of the movie wrapped recently and it is scheduled to be released in 2027.

More details explored as Lewis Pullman stars in Spaceballs 2

Lewis Pullman reportedly joined the cast of Spaceballs 2 in June alongside new additions in the film, including Josh Gad and Keke Palmer.

A report in Deadline stated that Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga and Rick Moranis will be reprising their roles as Lone Star, Princess Vespa and Dark Helmet. Spaceballs is a sci-fi comedy that parodies Star Wars and other films like Alien and Star Trek.

Production for Spaceballs 2 started in September and ended in December. During an exclusive interview with Collider, Lewis Pullman praised the script for the sequel, calling it “wildly well-designed.” He said:

“It's just some brilliant writing that went into it. It has so much of Mel's DNA in it, and then Josh Greenbaum is the dream director. He has such a close relationship with Mel, and he has such a good sense for that kind of humor.”

Pullman added:

“It was a really incredibly great experience. It was so fun to be able to just do full-blown comedy in that way, and remember that full-blown comedy — it all comes back to this, it’s almost like Ann Lee — it only works if there's full conviction. It only sells itself if you fully, truly believe it in the moment.”

Lewis Pullman recently starred in a historical music drama titled The Testament of Ann Lee, directed by Mona Fastvold. He portrayed the character of William Lee, the loyal brother of Ann Lee (Amanda Seyfried), the founder of the Shakers religious sect.

The film is based on real-life events that chronicle the life of Ann Lee, the founder of the Shakers (officially the United Society of Believers in Christ's Second Appearing). It is a religious sect known for communal living, celibacy, gender equality, and ecstatic worship involving shaking, dancing, and singing. Ann Lee was also known as Mother Ann Lee and the female Christ by her followers.

Critics have praised Lewis Pullman’s performance in the film and his chemistry with the Les Misérables actress.
