Jamie Lee Curtis was just awesome in these 9 Tess Coleman moments from Freaky Friday
9) The multitasking mom

Freaky Friday is one of those early 2000s movies that has numerous canes and dialogues that have now become iconic. For instance, the introduction scene of Jamie Lee Curtis’s character Tess in the comedy film is the best character introduction scene in movies, and the reason why she is one of the most loved characters from the film.
A mother who has to multitask but without much complaining and with pure swag is what we can only expect from the Oscar-winning actress. Painting her nails, while meditating, taking work calls while serving breakfast, and lastly trying her best to wake up her teenage daughter, Curtis’s Tess had won the audience within just a few moments into the film.
8) She reprimanded her daughter calmly

Since Tess is a psychiatrist, there are not many moments before the body switch that we see Jamie Lee Curtis’s character getting angry in Freaky Friday. She has her own calm way of dealing with difficulties, even if that includes Anna’s being in detention at school.
It's mostly Curtis’s dialogue delivery that has made these scenes sassy. For instance, when she asks Anna about being grumpy to make her mother listen to her, and calmly says:
"Do you really think your surliness is the best way for you to get what you want?"
But then also asks what she wants, giving in to her daughter. This is one of the perfect scenes of Tess where we see her teasing, arguing with her daughter, but also showing her love for her.
7) The body switch scene

The body switch scene from Freaky Friday remains one of the best in the movie. In the scene, Tess wakes up in Anna’s body while Anna wakes up in Tess’s body, freaking the duo out. They try to switch back to their bodies, but to no success.
The scene gives us the perfect example of how talented both Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan are as they shift to their roles, with Lohan appearing as her poised mother and Curtis appearing as the brat daughter, impeccably.
6) Struggling to talk to Harry in a kind way

It is a well-known fact that Jamie Lee Curtis owned the film with her portrayal as a protective mother and later as the careless daughter, after a body switch. Other than their changed appearances, her relationships also suffered with the switch. For instance, before the body switch, Tess Coleman was a loving mother to Harry.
However, after Anna took over her body, she couldn’t talk to him warmly like her mother used to. Curtis understood the assignment and gave us the best performance as she tried to talk to Harry in a language full of slang.
5) Tess talks to Ryan

Both the mother-daughter duo, trying to manage each other’s lives after the body switch, gave us some hilarious moments. For instance, in a scene where she tries to talk to Ryan in the car while the real Tess, now in Anna’s body, sits behind, it is one of the best moments.
While talking to him, she uses the word darling in a sassy way and later talks about their wedding, but also blurts out about her husband’s death, which is what Anna has been thinking about the wedding, and depicts Anna’s apprehensions about her mother’s upcoming wedding. Jamie Lee Curtis, with her subtle humor and expressions, makes this scene an unforgettable one.
4) Changes Tess’s whole appearance

With switching into her mother’s body on Freaky Friday, one of the positives was the unlimited shopping. Using her mother's credit card, she changed her mother’s appearance, from a short pixie cut to high heels. This new Tess was stylish and had an air of coolness that made her stand out.
Jamie Lee Curtis embraced this change as she couldn't hide her smile when everyone began to notice her while strolling through the streets.
3) Tess attends Harry’s PTA

Tess as Tess was gentle and a loving mother, but Tess as Anna was a riot. On Freaky Friday, she has to attend a PTA meeting at Harry’s school and finds out about being bullied and his struggles with math. Tess suggests that he has to go through the bullying as it will develop his character, and also tells the teacher to hold him back if he is not doing good in math, stunning the teacher.
However, her expression quickly changes from being a badly behaved teenager in her mom’s body to genuine love as she reads an essay written by Harry about Anna. Jamie Lee Curtis quickly switches her quirkiness with a genuine smile, making it one of the heartwarming scenes of the film.
2) Tess attends a live TV interview

Still in Tess’s body, Anna had to attend a live interview about her mom’s new book. Since she hadn’t read it, she had no idea of the contents of the book and tried to avoid going on air.
However, she still had to do the interview, which turned out to be funny and amusing. Jamie Lee Curtis’s Tess, while behaving like her teenage daughter Anna, sits on the sofa with her legs crossed and gives an entertaining interview about adults being tired all the time. This was one of Jamie Lee Curtis’s scene-stealing moments from the comedy film.
1) Tess’s unexpected guitar riff

The best Jamie Lee Curtis moment from Freaky Friday has to be the guitar riff with which she saves Pink Slips’ audition. Since Anna cannot play guitar anymore as the real Tess was in her body, Curtis’s Tess, who is now Anna, had to come and save their performance by playing her guitar off stage.
While the mother and daughter have now learned to work out their troubles (almost), this scene not only makes their story more endearing and heartwarming, but also Jamie Lee Curtis swaying and dazzling in every role she is put up to play.
