Jen Shah, former star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, was released from Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas on December 10, after serving nearly three years.Shah began serving her prison sentence at the minimum-security facility since February 2023 after being sentenced to six and a half years for wire fraud for her involvement in an alleged telemarketing scheme.Reportedly, her prison sentence was reduced multiple times for good behavior, participation in prison programs, and ongoing restitution payments toward her $6.5 million obligation. Robinson told People magazine:“Jen Shah has demonstrated strength, accountability, and resilience throughout this process. Today represents not only a transition, but the beginning of a new chapter for her.”According to a report in US Weekly, Jen Shah filed a lawsuit against the warden of the Federal Prison Camp in Bryan. In her complaint, the reality TV star alleged improper calculation of her release date after completing the Residential Drug Abuse Program. She earlier demanded to be released on August 6. They were later charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud in connection with telemarketing and conspiracy to commit money laundering.According to the outlet, Manhattan U.S. Attorney Audrey Strauss said in a press release:“Jennifer Shah, who portrays herself as a wealthy and successful businessperson on 'reality' television, and Stuart Smith, who is portrayed as Shah's 'first assistant,' allegedly generated and sold 'lead lists' of innocent individuals for other members of their scheme to repeatedly scam.”He further added:“In actual reality and as alleged, the so-called business opportunities pushed on the victims by Shah, Smith, and their co-conspirators were just fraudulent schemes, motivated by greed, to steal victims' money. Now, these defendants face time in prison for their alleged crimes.”Following their arrest in March 2021, both Jen Shah and Stuart Smith pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. But in November, Smith changed his plea to guilty in a surprise hearing, admitting to committing the fraud.
