Juan Diego Botto to star in femicide drama Los Relatos, produced and distributed by Sideral

Actor Juan Diego Botto is starring in a femicide drama named Los Relatos. The project is supported by Sideral, a film distribution and production company of Spain, as reported by Variety.

As per the outlet, the film explores the lasting reverberations of a femicide that still continues to haunt, even beyond a span of two decades. The film follows the plot of Pablo, who, upon being guilty of killing his wife, serves jail time. However, the story explores what happens after his prison time, as he makes a return to the same place where the tragic incident had occurred.

Everything we know about Los Relatos, starring Juan Diego Botto

As reported by Variety, Sideral's upcoming project, Los Relatos, explores the issue of femicide. It shall be helmed by Miguel del Arco, the theater and film director who has previously helmed Palos de ciego amor (2003), The Furies (2016), and Las noches de Tefía (2023).

As per the outlet, Miguel del Arco, who has also penned the film, talks about the upcoming film by mentioning:

“Writing this script has kept me on a constant edge, forcing me to confront deep contradictions. But the act of empathy is precisely what makes us human. Trying to put oneself in another’s place is, I believe, the only way we can move forward as a society.”

Adding:

“’Los Relatos’ is a bold, necessary project, full of sensitivity.”

The film traverses the emotional intricacies in relation to justice, reclamation, remorse, and accountability. Pablo, who shall be played by Juan Diego Botto, chooses to face the consequences of his horrific actions. The film also explores how people around him respond, whilst looking into the politics of justice and respectability claimed by the families of those who have been wronged.

Film production company Sideral is producing the film, as well as distributing the film in Spain and also for its global audience. Along with them, Aquí y Allí Films also joins in to produce the film. This is what Pedro Hernández from Aquí y Allí Films says about the film:

“What’s truly valuable about this film is the number of questions it raises. We would love for ‘Los Relatos’ to be an accessible proposal for audiences, without giving up on exploring the human issues that generate contradictions, doubts and even rejection.”

Juan Diego Botto is known for starring in Stories from the Kronen (1995), Plenilune (2020), Obaba (2005), Ismael (2013), Good Behavior (2016-2017), The Suicide Squad (2021), The Room Next Door (2024), Tras el verano (2025), etc. He has also directed On the Fringe (2022).

Along with him, the film also stars Marta Etura, who has previously starred in No Shame (2001), Cell 211 (2009), and The Invisible Guardian (2017), to name a few. And joining them we have actor Ainara Elejalde, who has worked in Els encantats (2023), The Goldsmith's Secret (2025), and Mr. Nadie (2025).

The filming of Los Relatos shall commence this year in September. We can expect the time to make its release towards the latter part of next year, in 2026.
