Let's decipher the ending.
What's the plot of Just Go With It?
Just Go With It is about Dr. Daniel Maccabee, aka Danny (played by Adam Sandler). He is a plastic surgeon who starts liking a sixth-grade school teacher named Palmer Dodge (Brooklyn Decker). To woo her, Danny takes the help of his assistant, Katherine Murphy (Jennifer Aniston). This leads to several lies that they have to coverup. The film focuses on his attempt to win Palmer's heart.
How does Just Go With It end?
Just Go With It has Danny asking his Katherine to pretend to be his ex-wife for a Hawaii trip. Palmer also realizes that the two were actually married. But Danny is now having second thoughts as he has developed feelings for Katherine.
This happened after the two spent a night together as a couple. They really enjoyed it and almost kissed. He was about to tell Katherine about his feelings, but was interrupted by Palmer. The latter is also a sweet girl and has responded to Danny's attempts to woo her. She is interested in him and wants to get married. This puts Danny in a difficult position, as both of these girls are genuine and sweet.
Towards the end of Just Go With It, Danny calls off his wedding to Palmer. He then marries Katherine after realizing she is his true love. The film ends on a happy note for him and several other characters. But it might seem that Palmer was wronged. She was made to believe by Danny that he loved her. However, her world shook when the wedding was called off. Palmer is sad, but she makes peace with that fact. She wants Danny to be with someone who makes him happy.
Danny kept putting one lie after another to pretend to be something else for Palmer. This forced Katherine and others to play along in his narrative. But after spending some time with Katherine as her fake husband, things changed for him. He realized the love he was looking for was in front of him all along. Michael also got a chance to swim with the dolphins, while Maggie got into an acting class with Dolph Lundgren. So most of them got to fulfill their wishes.
