Osgood Perkins' second film this year, Keeper, didn't do well critically in contrast to The Monkey, which was released earlier this year, but Tatiana Maslany has again shown us her potential. She was a mother in The Monkey, and she is a mother in the latest film.

It is a story that includes witchcraft and creepy creatures that are also kind of helpful if you feed them. The issue is, they eat flesh. But that is not a problem because these creatures have found their feeders, who have been feeding them for two centuries.

However, you can never escape your karma. It comes to you, even if it takes 200 years, which is what happens at the end of the movie. The final woman they gave these creatures to develops some special bond with these creepy things, and now the hunters have become the prey.

Liz turns out to resemble the creatures' mother in Keeper

The main characters in the story, Liz (Tatiana Maslany) and Dr. Malcolm Westbridge (Rossif Sutherland), are actually a couple, but the latter is a sinister character who feeds women to the creatures. But when he does that, it turns out that she resembles the creature's mother.

Initially, it seems like Liz would become a meal like the other women who have come before her. However, the creature takes a good look at her before making the final decision. Malcolm knew the fact about the resemblance but thought that the creature would like this woman.

They did like this woman in Keeper. Although too much. After that, Liz, who was supposed to be the victim, makes Malcolm her victim, which he rightfully deserves after his sinister deeds for two centuries.

Why was Malcolm feeding those women to the creatures in Keeper?

It all began 200 years before, when Malcolm and his cousin Darren Westbridge (Birkett Turton) captured a woman who was trespassing on their property. However, she was more like a witch. As soon as they shot her, she gave birth to these creatures.

They kill her, but also learn that if they feed these creatures, then these creatures will give them immortality in return. So, for 200 years, he and his cousin have been feeding them women to increase their lifespan. However, as soon as this discontinuity occurs, the boon will go away, which is what happens at the end.

Was Liz a reincarnation of the witch in Keeper?

Though it is never confirmed in the movie, the fact that she looked exactly like the witch is one sign that she was a reincarnation of the witch.

What adds more certainty to this fact is that she was in a relationship with Malcolm, the 200-year-old man, and became the last woman he would ever meet. And she also had these visions of women Malcolm has killed over the years, so she might be a reincarnation of the witch.

Even if she wasn't a reincarnation of that witch, it was still a satisfactory end, near-perfect, even if the film didn't sit well with audiences.
