Knives Out 3, officially known as Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, is the third film in the franchise and a direct sequel to 2022's Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The film will premiere on Netflix on December 12, 2025. Here's the official synopsis:
Benoit Blanc returns for his most dangerous case yet. Sequel to 'Glass Onion (2022)'.
Rian Johnson returns as the writer-director. The official teaser has been released and seems to hint at who might die. Let's examine the details.
Knives Out 3 teaser might have revealed who dies in the film
Recently, the release date and teaser video for the upcoming mystery film Knives Out 3 were released. The one-minute and four-second-long video showcases the character of Simone Vivane (played by Cailee Spaeny), who is the main victim of the murder mystery. The teaser also hints at other potential victims of the killer. Cailee's character is young, which could make her death especially tragic if she is indeed the victim.
Simone Vivane and Samson Holt are two characters who don’t fully appear in the teaser, hinting that one of them might die in the film. Andrew Scott is shown holding a knife, suggesting he might be the main suspect. The teaser suggests the film may follow a structure similar to the first Knives Out.
Knives Out 3 is produced by Rian Johnson, Katie McNeil, and Ram Bergman. Here's a list of its cast members:
- Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc
- Mila Kunis as Geraldine Scott
- Josh O'Connor as Rev. Jud Duplenticy
- Thomas Haden Church as Samson Holt
- Daryl McCormack as Cy Draven
- Glenn Close as Martha Delacroix
- Andrew Scott as Lee Ross
- Josh Brolin as Msgr. Jefferson Wicks
- Jeremy Renner as Dr. Nat Sharp
- Kerry Washington as Vera Draven
- Cailee Spaeny as Simone Vivane
In a Collider interview, Rian Johnson said the sequel will be tonally different from the previous film.
"As long as Daniel [Craig] still wants to keep doing it and as long as we have an idea that, to us, feels not just like cranking another one out, but feels genuinely exciting and scary like, 'Oh, wow, could we pull that off?' I love the genre. It’s endlessly malleable, and so it holds endless possibilities. But at the same time, I have made three of them in a row. I don’t feel burnt out on it at all, but the next thing I have in my head to write is an original that’s not a mystery at all. It’s a totally different genre. One of the things I love about the mystery genre is that it holds the whodunit. Like sci-fi, it encompasses so many other types of genres. 'Wake Up Dead Man,' this next movie, is so different than 'Glass Onion.' It’s like night and day. And so, as long as we keep doing that, it’s exciting."
Knives Out 3 will be released on December 12, 2025.
