Bernice King, daughter of Martin Luther King Jr., has supported Zelda Williams after the late Robin Williams's daughter condemned the use of artificial intelligence to recreate her father's "art". Their individual statements have generated a significant emotional conversation across the internet about artificial intelligence.

Recently, multiple AI-generated videos of a digital recreation of Robin Williams surfaced on social media platforms like TikTok, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter). These clips were labeled as "tributes" and depicted an artificial version of the beloved comedian performing skits and jokes. Daughter Zelda Williams called them "deeply disturbing." Netizens reacted to Zelda's statement on this, saying:

"Legends deserve peace not AI exploitation 💔"

What did Bernice King and Zelda Williams say?

Zelda Williams posted a heartfelt message warning people against using her father's voice and image without consent. She wrote on her Instagram Stories:

"Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I'll understand, I don't and I won't. If you're just trying to troll me, I've seen way worse, i'll restrict and move on. But please, if you've got any decency, just stop doing this to him and to me, to everyone even, full stop. It's dumb, it's a waste of time and energy, and believe me, it's NOT what he'd want."

Zelda Williams continued:

"To watch the legacies of real people be condensed down to 'this vaguely looks and sounds like them so that's enough', just so other people can churn out horrible TikTok slop puppeteering them is maddening. You're not making art, you're making disgusting, over-processed hotdogs out of the lives of human beings, out of the history of art and music, and then shoving them down someone else's throat hoping they'll give you a little thumbs up and like it. Gross."

In a second story, Zelda added:

"And for the love of EVERYTHING, stop calling it 'the future'. AI is just badly recycling and regurgitating the past to be reconsumed. You are taking in the Human Centipede of content, and from the very very end of the line, all while the folks at the front laugh and laugh, consume and consume."

Bernice King took to her official X (formerly Twitter) to stand with Zelda Williams, stating:

"I concur concerning my father. Please stop."

Netizens also weighed in on the issue as they penned their opinions across social media platforms. Below are some of their remarks:

"The children of icons deserve the right to protect their parents' legacies. This isn't about censorship, it's about basic respect.", opined an X user.
"Imagine losing someone and then watching strangers use AI to make them say things they never said, do things they'd never do. That's what Bernice King and Zelda Williams are dealing with. They're not asking much—just stop. It's really that simple.", noted another.
"Some of these people won't understand how traumatising a parent's death could be. It's all fun in games until it's your family members. Fake videos over a deceased and a voices is just wrong.", expressed a third.

Others also chimed in:

"Respect means knowing when not to recreate. Bernice King’s words echo Zelda William's plea - AI can't resurrect humanity, only imitate it. Some voices are meant to rest in peace. 🕊️💔👍", penned a netizen.
"Completely understandable. Some things should just be left in peace and respected.", echoed another.

Robin Williams died in 2014. He was loved for his humor and performances in films like Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, and Mrs. Doubtfire.
