Light of My Life features Rag and Dad trying to stay alive in this world. The two have lived in a house for a while, and it appears they might be able to spend their lives here. But they need support, and they head to a nearby town to buy some stuff at the store. One night, the father-daughter duo has a conversation about how Rag's body will go through several changes in the coming years.

That night, the two have to leave after their house is invaded by a group of people. They escape and reach the road, where they hitchhike a vehicle. The driver tells them that the place he comes from also has females. But they live separately. Dad steals his car, but it doesn't cause him any harm.

They move towards Dad's grandparents' house, but they have to go to a house due to a blizzard that's owned by Lemmy, Calvin, and Tom. Rag and Dad plan for their escape the next day. While Tom is teaching Rag something, he realizes that the latter is a girl. He confronts Dad about it and asks for proof. Dad provides Tom with proof, and he eventually starts talking about how all his daughters and granddaughters are dead.

The next day, some men invade their house, and they are looking for Dad and Rag. Dad manages to kill two of the invaders, but the third one overpowers him. Rag then shoots the man dead, but the bullet also touches Dad. They realize that Lemmy and Tom are dead and Calvin is missing.

Rag goes out to look for medicines. She manages to come back with a supply and treats her dad. The film ends with Dad saying that it's time for them to go to a safer place. This was a hint that they will give the girl shelters a try. Light of My Life ends on an ambiguous note. Rag and Dad manage to survive to see another day.
