Holiday cheers are incoming as Lil Rel Howery and Tabitha Brown are reuniting for a festive family comedy called Unexpected Christmas, marking their second collaboration. Serving as both actors and executive producers for the film, the film sets the premise for a happening and chaotic holiday that revolves around the Scotts.

Brown spoke about the movie in a statement and told Variety,

“Christmas movies are literally the gift that keeps on giving. ’Unexpected Christmas’ is relatable and hilarious, but will truly be a gift for all families this holiday season!”

Howery then added,

"This movie and this cast is so special and will be the holiday movie everyone will be talking about.”

Apart from both stars, the film also stars Anna Maria Horsford, DomiNque Perry, Reagan Gomez-Preston, Terrence Terrell, Trell Woodberry, Howie Bell, Cece Friday, Ricco Ross, and Koryn Hawthorne. Unexpected Christmas is written by Cassandra Mann, while Michael Vaughn Hernandez directs.

This will mark Howery and Brown's second collaboration after they worked together on the YouTube series Tab Time, where the latter was the central character. She starred as Ms Tab, an all-rounder motivational leader teaching kids how to live their best life. After that, Unexpected Christmas feels like the perfect reunion for both stars, who are known for their work in comedy.

The official synopsis for Unexpected Christmas reads,

“Marissa tries to play it cool and invites a surprise guest of her own who has everyone talking, all while Kerry is cooking up a scheme that could ruin the whole celebration. Add in a few romantic mix-ups, old rivalries, plenty of family secrets, and everyone is in for an unforgettable holiday. With love, laughter and a little bit of chaos around every corner, this Christmas might just bring the Scotts closer together — or blow the roof off the house!”

The film is being produced by 3 Diamonds Entertainment’s Trell Woodberry and Phil Thornton with Perri Camper. Woodberry and Thornton also made statements about the project and said,

“We’re proud to bring ‘Unexpected Christmas’ to audiences this November — a true labor of love from our amazing cast and crew. As a Black-owned company, we’re honored to share a story that celebrates our voices, artistry, and impact on the global stage.”

This will be Tabitha Brown's first film since Princess of the Row, which was released in 2019. Apart from that, the actress has worked on multiple shows ever since, namely Anatomy of Black Love, The Talk, Joel McHale, The Chi, and The Tiny Chef Show. The festive comedy will surely be a fresh break from Brown's usual reality shows.

Unexpected Christmas is set to hit screens on November 7, 2025.
