The latest Amazon-MGM film, Maintenance Required, seriously needed some maintenance. We aren't here to talk about how bad this movie is, but, as The Guardian notes in its review:

"Surely, even in this cursed AI era of copyright erosion, no one would so shamelessly regurgitate the beats of that much-adored film without giving the requisite credit."

In case you are wondering, the review is talking about Tom Hanks' You've Got Mail (1998), which was a commercial and critical success, and Maintenance Required is a clear rip-off of it.

Anyway, we are here to discuss the film's ending, and at the end, the two strangers who met on the internet end up together. Of course, there's a lot of filler in it and nothing really to see, so we will discuss that too.

It stars Madelaine Petsch as Charlie and Jacob Scipio as Beau, who are the main characters in the film. Other cast members include Madison Bailey, Katy O'Brian, Jim Gaffigan, and more.

The film's official synopsis (via IMDb) reads:

"Charlie, forced to reevaluate her all-female mechanic shop, unknowingly confides in her online confidant Beau, who turns out to be her real-life business rival, their connection blossoms amidst professional rivalry."

Lacey Uhlemeyer has directed the film while also co-writing it with Roo Berry and Erin Falconer.

What's happening in the lives of these two strangers in Maintenance Required?

While Beau and Charlie are in contact online, they are still strangers to each other. However, both are struggling in their lives.

Charlie, the lead of the movie, runs an all-women garage, which isn't doing very well. Now a new competitor enters the market and opens a garage in front of her shop, which annoys her.

On the other hand, her online love interest in Maintenance Required, whom she hasn't met yet, is living a life that many would think is decent. However, he is caught in a corporate grind.

Beau is earning a handsome salary but doesn't enjoy working for the company, which also happens to be Charlie's competitor. He eventually leaves the company, but that doesn't affect him, as he has already earned a significant sum during his tenure.

This is somewhat similar to Charlie, as she is working mindlessly and not really enjoying her work, despite being independent. She is also in debt.

Maintenance Required protagonists finally meets and ends up together

Both protagonists meet in the real world too, but they still don't know who the other really is.

For Charlie, Beau is just a guy working for that corporate giant at the time, which makes him her rival. He is also "Bullnose," another username he uses to talk to her online. Social media, you know.

Both of them even attend a classic car show together, but things go awry. Charlie sees a car at the show that "Bullnose" was working on. As soon as she sees it, she realizes the truth.

Both of them part ways initially, but then Charlie misses him and chases after him. Later, they start a business together. That's all there is to it.
