Avengers: Doomsday will be released on December 18, 2026.

It is the fifth Avengers film and the 39th Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. Directed by the Russo brothers, the script is written by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. Kevin Feige is producing it under the Marvel Studios banner along with the Russos.

Marvel has recently confirmed that Sam Wilson, who is playing Captain America in the MCU, is the new face of the film. Wilson will be reprising his role, along with names like Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, and others, in the forthcoming film. Let us find out more details about the same.

Sam Wilson is the new face of Avengers: Doomsday

The Cosmic Circus has reported that Sim Wilson has recruited his Avengers team off-screen for Avengers: Doomsday. Because Captain America has done it off-screen, we might get to see a reference to this event through character interactions. We will have to wait to see who might be a part of Wilson's team of Avengers.

Doomsday marks the return of several actors from the MCU who are reprising their roles. This includes Robert Downey Jr., who is playing the protagonist Doctor Doom. In the earlier phase, Robert was Tony Stark/Iron Man; the character dies in 2019's Endgame.

"The greatest thing that ever happened is we got to, you know, get immersed in, you know, a 20-movie arc and see an ending to that arc."

They added,

"What's compelling about these two new Avengers movies is they're a beginning. It's a new beginning. We told an ending story, now we're going to tell a beginning story. And then who knows where we'll go from there."
