Marvel Studios just unleashed a fresh teaser for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and it’s all about the unsung hero in chrome, H.E.R.B.I.E. The clip whirls us through the Baxter Building as the charming little bot zips, beeps, and stumbles his way into our hearts, blending retro flair with some seriously sleek tech vibes.

Voiced by Matthew Wood, H.E.R.B.I.E. isn’t just comic relief; he’s the emotional tech glue of Marvel’s First Family. The teaser’s warm, retro glow promises heart, chaos, and at least one adorable circuit meltdown. Throughout the teaser, with his monologue playing in the background, the robot can be seen helping the family with chores- from dusting to cooking to taking care of baby Richards- as Galactus creates chaos in the city. H.E.R.B.I.E.'s teaser ends with him urging fans to get tickets now for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is all set to kick off Marvel's sixth phase.

H.E.R.B.I.E. might look like a floating toaster with attitude, but don’t let the retro charm fool you; he’s a core part of Fantastic Four history. Dreamed up by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1978 for an NBC cartoon, this humanoid experimental robot quickly leapt from TV to comics in Fantastic Four #209.

He wasn’t just tech support either. H.E.R.B.I.E. helped Reed Richards hunt Galactus using Xandarian gear, only to later pull a total tearjerker move: sacrificing himself when possessed by Doctor Sun to save the team and the Baxter Building. Since then, he’s moonlighted as a babysitter to Franklin and Valeria, joined the A.I. army for robot rights, and yes, even cameo’d (blink and you miss it) in the 2005 extended film cut. From lovable sidekick to selfless hero, H.E.R.B.I.E. is proof that sometimes, the smallest bot has the biggest heart.

Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps isn’t just kicking off Phase Six of the MCU; it’s crash-landing straight out of a vintage sci-fi dream. Helmed by WandaVision's Matt Shakman, this reboot plants Marvel’s First Family in a dazzling alternate 1960s, dripping with Kubrick-core charm. The cast is stacked: Pedro Pascal leads as stretchy genius Reed Richards, with Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach rounding out the Storm siblings and the ever-lovable Thing.

Origin story? Skipped. This film hits the ground running, literally, with Galactus looming and Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer riding the waves of doom. In a twist that has fans spiraling into Reddit rabbit holes, Sue Storm is pregnant, most likely with baby Franklin Richards, the cosmic wild card of future Marvel arcs.

Rather than drowning in CGI sludge or origin story déjà vu, Shakman leans hard into the weird and wonderful. The film pulses with emotional storytelling, quirky family dynamics, and that electric sense of discovery. This isn’t just Marvel’s First Family; it’s Marvel’s most human one, crash-landing into the multiverse with messy love, impossible odds, and a robot named H.E.R.B.I.E. who might just steal the entire movie.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be in theaters on July 25, 2025.
