Max (formerly HBO Max) is bringing a whole new catalog in May 2025 that will surely offer you loads of options to watch at home. While Sinners and Thunderbolts* are up in theaters, some people might want to cozy up on their beds and sofas and watch a movie or more. Max has covered pretty much every kind of movie lover.
Hoping to catch a high-voltage action flick? Kong: Skull Island will be there from May 20. Want to watch an old-school romance with Julia Roberts? Notting Hill is there. Craving the good old times? There's The Princess Bride and Ready Player One to give you that dose of nostalgia. Horror fans have The Silence of the Lambs, and comedy lovers have their Funny People. There's also a whole new season of Conan O'Brien Must Go on the way.
As if that's not enough, Max is also bringing a few more new movies to stream online in May 2025.

Mountainhead (2025)
The creator of Peep Show and Succession, Jesse Armstrong, is returning with a brand-new project on Max. Written and directed by him, Mountainhead is a satirical comedy-drama that follows four wealthy friends who meet in the middle of nowhere while the world is suffering from a financial crisis. It is Armstrong's feature directorial debut.
The cast includes a talented cast of Ramy Youssef (Poor Things), Steve Carell (The Office), Cory Michael Smith (Saturday Night), and Jason Schwartzman (The Darjeeling Limited).
Pee-wee as Himself (2025)
Pee-wee as Himself is a documentary that revolves around the life of beloved American comedian Paul Reubens, who was famously known for his character, Pee-wee Herman. In a career spanning multiple decades, Reubens has reprised this character several times and brought joy to the lives of audiences in and outside the US.
This two-part documentary is directed by Matt Wolf, and it offers a compilation of footage from his acting career along with some commentary by Reubens himself.
The Brutalist (2024)
The Brutalist is a three-time Oscar-winning drama that follows the harrowing events of the time post-holocaust through the eyes of a Hungarian architect who escaped this tragedy. Adrien Brody stars in the lead role of the architect, and the film is directed by Brady Corbet based on a script he co-wrote with Mona Fastvold.
Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Felicity Jones, Isaach De Bankolé, and Raffey Cassidy round out the main supporting cast. A few months after its Oscar victory, this harrowing drama is available to watch on Max.
The Whale (2022)
The other A24 studio film that is coming to Max is Brendan Fraser-led The Whale, which earned him his first Oscar. It follows a reclusive man who seldom gets out of his small apartment. His unhealthy habits put him at severe health risk. While coping with this struggle, he hopes to reconnect with his estranged daughter.
The film is directed by Darren Aronofsky, the director behind Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan. Its supporting cast includes Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, along with Hong Chau, Samantha Morton, and more.
