Mia Goth is all set to join the Star Wars: Starfighter cast alongside Ryan Gosling, with Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) directing.
The plot details are under wraps, but per The Hollywood Reporter, the film is expected to star Gosling as someone who gears up to save a young charge, and Mia Goth is expected to play one of the characters pursuing them. Anora star Mikey Madison was previously expected to be cast in a similar role, but the deal didn't go through at the time.
In a previous interview, Shawn Levy revealed:
“This is a stand-alone. It’s not a prequel, not a sequel. It’s a new adventure. It’s set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet,”
It is expected to come out in May 2027 in theaters. With Gosling as the lead, the shooting is expected to begin in the fall of 2025.
Ryan Gosling and Shawn Levy join hands for Star Wars: Starfighter, with Mia Goth co-starring.
The announcement about Star Wars: Starfighter was made during the massive Star Wars Celebration on April 18, 2025, in Japan. It is said to be a standalone project, unrelated to the Luke Skywalker saga. At the time of the event, Ryan Gosling addressed the audience by saying,
"This is the perfect place to start this journey for us because it's such a great reminder of why we're going to make this movie and who we're going to make this movie for."
Director Shaw Levy also shared a few words, sharing his appreciation for the fans.
"We're one of them. We're one of them. You know, there's obviously a relationship between these stories and the audience, but we've spent our lives in the audience, and we know how meaningful it is. As Ryan said, it's a big galaxy. It's a big galaxy, and it feels like there's an opportunity to do a movie that's not a prequel, that's not a sequel and gives us the Star Wars DNA that we love, but with an adventure that's all new."
After these details came out, Jimmy McInerney from the Rebel Force Radio: Star Wars Podcast said this:
"Sometimes Star Wars gets crushed under the weight of its existing lore, so it's nice to know this will be a self-contained adventure. This could provide fandom with a nice palate cleanser following the divisive sequel trilogy and propel the franchise into the future."
Besides Star Wars: Starfighter, Mia Goth has a few more projects on the way.
Star Wars: Starfighter becomes the latest addition to the X film series, starring Mia Goth's upcoming projects. She is also a part of the cast for Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein (expected to be out in 2025) and Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey (expected to be out in 2026).
