Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is going large at the box office, with earnings as of this writing including a domestic sum of $122 million and a global sum of $231 million, making it $353 million all in all. That’s over $100 million more than Jason Statham’s highest-rated movie to date, Spy (2015).
The film, which stars Melissa McCarthy and Jude Law alongside Statham, boasts a juicy 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 259 critic ratings. On top of that, Popcornmeter shows a 78% approval from audiences, based on over 50k ratings. People sure enjoyed that action flick a lot.
Spy collected $110 million at the domestic box office, compared to the Tom Cruise film’s $122 million. On the global front, it’s $124 million against the latest M:I’s $231 million. Opening-wise, the Jason Statham film made $29 million on its opening weekend, while Cruise’s movie made $64 million.
Statham’s movie had the best economical run during its first two days, crossing the $10 million mark on both days—$10.3 million on day one and $11.1 million on day two. In contrast, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has crossed that bar three times already, and the film is only 10 days into release. Plus, it crossed $20 million during its first two days.
How does Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning compare with films in 2025?

The Tom Cruise film is already the sixth-highest-grossing film in 2025, with Ne Zha 2 dominating the chart with $1.9 billion in global earnings. It is followed by A Minecraft Movie ($948 million), Lilo & Stitch ($613 million), Captain America: Brave New World ($415 million), and Thunderbolts ($369 million). If we compare Spy’s domestic opening weekend, it was better than Ne Zha 2, which opened with $7.6 million.
Even though the film is setting box office records, it is still far from turning itself into a profitable movie, considering it was made on an estimated $400 million budget. Though it is likely to become profitable before it is pulled from theaters, there’s still time for that.
However, earnings are likely to slow down as new movies are in the queue, including From the World of John Wick: Ballerina on June 6, How to Train Your Dragon on June 13, and 28 Years Later on June 20. In addition, the following month brings Superman and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Box office performance of past films in the franchise

We won’t include Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning in this list, as it’s still running in theaters. But it still isn’t close to the biggest commercial success in the franchise, Mission: Impossible – Fallout, which earned $791 million at the global box office.
- Mission: Impossible - Fallout - $791 million
- Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol - $694 million
- Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation - $682 million
- Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One - $571 million
- Mission: Impossible II - $546 million
- Mission: Impossible - $457 million
- Mission: Impossible III - $398 million
To that end, the final installment in the franchise hasn’t even surpassed the worst-performing film in it, Mission: Impossible III, which is also a better performer than Spy. But that won’t be the case for long, as more updates on the film’s earnings arrive in the future.
