Stolen: Heist of the Century is an upcoming Netflix documentary that reconstructs the events of the infamous 2003 Diamond Center Robbery incident from Antwerp, Belgium. The film comes from the British production house Raw, in association with Amblin Documentaries.

Stolen: Heist of the Century is slated to premiere on August 8, 2025. Netflix has just unveiled a new trailer for the forthcoming project. Here's the clip for your reference:

The clip offers a mix of recreated scenes and some security footage to take us into the heist. It shows police cars swarming around a building as a male voiceover says:

"No one could imagine that the diamond district could be cracked. This isn't the story of the crime. It's more like the script of a movie."

The voiceover perfectly describes everything that went on during the fateful night in the Belgian city.

If you have read about the incident, you would know that the story seems stranger than fiction, especially back in 2003 when no one could imagine anyone do such a thing at the notoriously unbreakable vault in the Diamond Center. That's why it almost feels like a movie rather than an actual incident.

The narrative is brought to life by Mark Lewis, who earlier directed the Emmy-winning the three-part docuseries, Don't F**k with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer (2019). It was also one of the most-watched documentaries on the streamer in the weeks after its debut. So, Stolen: Heist of the Century seems like something that is worth having on your watchlist.

What is the plot of Stolen: Heist of the Century really about?

The documentary will follow the investigation after the heist occurred in the City of Diamonds. At the time, the authorities were all in shock, trying to figure out who could have pulled off this seemingly impossible operation.

The newly released trailer shows detectives speaking about the case. Otherwise known as investigative experts in criminal cases, they didn't know how to crack this one. In a brief synopsis, Deadline revealed what the viewers can expect from this documentary. Here's what Deadline said,

"The film starts on the morning of February 17, 2003, when detectives from Antwerp’s infamous ‘Diamond Squad’ were called to investigate the night-time robbery of an allegedly impregnable vault in the middle of the Belgian city, which is nicknamed the City of Diamonds. It is estimated that between $100M and $500M worth of diamonds were stolen – and have never been found. An ingenious gang of master jewel thieves from Italy, known as ‘The School of Turin’, was eventually revealed to be behind the audacious heist."

Judging by the trailer, Stolen: Heist of the Century seems like an exciting recreation of the incident that will get your adrenaline rushing as it would in a fictionalised story. As per reports from Deadline, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank serve as executive producers on behalf of Amblin, while Jonny Taylor and Dimitri Doganis are involved in the project on behalf of Raw.

The documentary will soon start streaming online. Don't forget to check the release details below.
