Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington have been active in films since the 80s, but it wasn't until 2001 that they became a duo, which cinema fans will remember. Well, not exactly a duo, more like sharing the same screen. That happened in 2001 with Antoine Fuqua's 2001 film, Training Day.

In the film, Washington plays a corrupt LAPD detective, Alonzo Harris, for which he got his second Oscar, and Ethan Hawke is a new officer, Jake Hoyt, who will be spending a day for evaluation. However, this so-called training day turns out to be a nightmare for him, as the fans will see the story progress. Hawke was nominated for an Oscar too, but lost to Jim Broadbent for his role in Iris (2002).

Interestingly, after a couple of decades, the film is again fans' attention, but this time on a streaming platform. As of this writing, it is one of the top ten movies on Paramount+, according to FlixPatrol.

As of this writing, at the top of the list is Bruce Willis and Luke Wilson's Gasoline Alley, which was initially panned by the critics. The film currently holds a 23% critics approval rating at Rotten Tomatoes. However, the fan seems to like it, as the Popcornmeter shows an 84% score.

After that, it is the recently released Jack Quaid film Novocaine, where we saw the actor portray a man with a rare condition that proves to be a boon for him. The film's logline says enough about the movie, which reads:

"When the girl of his dreams is kidnapped, a man incapable of feeling physical pain turns his rare condition into an unexpected advantage in the fight to rescue her."

Rising two positions is Liam Neeson's A Walk Among Tombstones (2014), which is written and directed by Scott Frank, and based on Lawrence Block's novel of the same name. The film grossed $62.1 million against its $23–28 million budget.

Then rising five positions is The Lincoln Lawyer (2011), where Matthew McConaughey gave one of those unforgettable performances. The film was praised by the critics and currently holds an 83% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Top Gun: Maverick has slipped two positions and is currently the fifth most watched movie on the platform. The sequel to the 1986 classic made over $1.4 billion globally.

Jamie Foxx's Sleepless (2017) and Jason Bateman's Extract (2009) are in sixth and seventh positions, respectively. Training Day is on the eighth, followed by Clueless (1995) and Mean Girls (2004).

Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke weren't exactly buddy cops in Training Day, but their presence together in the movie is still something you don't want to miss even today. But there's another film where they came together again.

In the 2016 film The Magnificent Seven, which was also directed by Antoine Fuqua, they shared the screen. However, Ethan Hawke's character, Goodnight Robicheaux, is a pro sharpshooter, and Washington's Sam Chisholm is a moral character, unlike Training Day.

It was an average success, both critically and commercially. Currently, it has a 64% Tomatometer score and a 71% Popcornmeter score at Rotten Tomatoes.
