Mr. Beast, the YouTube personality with nearly 431 million followers, appears in the new promo for Tron: Ares from Disney. It's the latest sci-fi action thriller that follows an AI being entering the human world with the hope of using it on a battlefield. However, it becomes increasingly clear that this super-intelligent program will lead to more harm than good.

The previously released trailer offered a hint of its central conflict when the program begins to gain sentience. It reveals a look into its dystopian, modernistic world, where the same program duplicates itself, creating an army of these beings. It's not clear how it will all play out in the film's final cut, or whether the beings will be shown as villains or antiheroes.

Based on what has been revealed so far, it seems like a delight for the eyes and ears. IMAX fans will especially be in for a treat since the movie was filmed for IMAX. This means it meets the company's requirements to offer an experience as close as possible to the immersive nature of films shot with IMAX cameras.

Speaking about Mr. Beast's appearance, there's no official report available about his inclusion in the film's cast. So, the promo doesn't confirm whether he stars in the movie or not.

Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Rønning directed Tron: Ares, the latest film in the Tron franchise that began with Steven Lisberger's 1982 namesake project. Before him, Joseph Kosinski (F1, Top Gun: Maverick) helmed another chapter of this franchise. While critics offered it a mixed response, audiences appreciated its sci-fi world-building much more.

With Tron: Ares, Rønning is set to offer a follow-up feature film where an AI being is brought into the human world. Early looks suggest it will be a thrilling, neon-drenched experience. Now, the director chimes in on how he envisioned this world and executed his vision. In a new video shared by Disney, he said:

"With Tron, it was important to raise the bar to the next level, taking Tron into the real world. It was important for me to shoot as much as possible in camera. We shut down Vancouver for six weeks of nights shooting these amazing Light-Cycle sequences."

When explaining his attention to the film's audio-visual design, the director added:

"You feel the grid all around you with the sound and the music."

Jared Leto will lead the cast of Tron: Ares as Ares, a super-intelligent program who will be the film's main focus. Joining him in the cast are Greta Lee as Eve Kim and Evan Peters as Julian Dillinger in key roles.

Jeff Bridges will also star as Kevin Flynn, alongside Jodie Turner-Smith as Athena. The rest of the cast includes:

  • Gillian Anderson as Elisabeth Dillinger
  • Hasan Minhaj as Ajay Singh
  • Arturo Castro as Seth Flores
  • Cameron Monaghan as Caius

Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will release Tron: Ares in theaters on October 10, 2025.
