Chrissy Teigen spoke about her experience taking Ozempic after someone had a miscarriage, stating that she felt her body was "stuck." She spoke about her experience in an interview with PEOPLE while she took part in the Hello Sunshine Shine Away event on October 11, 2025.
Chrissy Teigen explained her desire to be honest, even if it was uncomfortable, so it could help someone else "feel a lot better about themselves." Teigen is 39 years old. She is a model, cookbook author, and public figure known also for speaking about her own struggles and life in public.

Chrissy Teigen's decision to speak up and what she revealed
Chrissy Teigen remarked that she decided to voice her usage of Ozempic publicly because she wanted to maintain a level of "transparency" with fans. She said,
"Since the beginning of social media, I've always wanted people to know that things weren't as fluffy and beautiful as they may seem."
On her podcast Self-Conscious, while discussing the podcast episode of September 18, she went into some more depth regarding the issue of her using Ozempic. She stated that after her miscarriage in 2020, it was a struggle to lose weight; her body was not responding. She said she felt,
"deep depression of seeing this pregnant belly with no baby in it."
She also said,
"My body was completely stuck.... So, when I had lost that baby at 20 weeks, I had probably gained an extra 40 pounds that I wasn't comfortable with."
According to her, she tried Ozempic for about a year with no initial effect. But eventually she saw weight loss, and she said it helped her feel more at home in her body again. She also spoke of side effects and difficulties.
Chrissy Teigen also said she had worries about the public perception of using such a drug. She worried it might look odd coming from someone who sells cookbooks and promotes food. She was also aware of the drug’s shortage and the concern that only some people could afford it.
She pointed out that she wants her children to feel safe talking about their bodies and insecurities.
"Because I would want my daughter [Luna] ... or son, if Miles wants to venture into hair plug territory or something, I would want them to know that it's not about pretending to be perfect, it's about being open and honest about what it feels to make you feel better."
She also said,
"It's not about striving for perfection, because it doesn't make anybody else feel emotionally happy at the end of the day."
Chrissy Teigen also said she still faces criticism about her appearance, no matter what she does. She noted people question whether she is pregnant or whether she has lost too much weight. For her, it feels "exhausting."
"People will say, ‘Are you pregnant?’ And then the next week … they'll be like, ‘Well, why'd you do Ozempic? You're too skinny.’ You could never win with anything."
Chrissy Teigen’s decision to speak about her own journey adds to the ongoing public discussion about body image, mental health, and medical choices. Her openness gives one more example of a public person sharing hardship.
In some previous public comments, Teigen has also discussed her loss of son, Jack, in 2020 and the grief that followed. In fact, she has more than once spoken about the pain and emotional cost of that loss. Her decision now to link that experience with her weight journey might encourage more empathy from public audiences.
