It's been eleven years since popular American actor and comedian Robin Williams passed away. The comedian, who was well known for his improvisational skills and versatility, died on August 11, 2014, at age 63, just a few weeks after his birthday on July 21, 2014.
Robin Williams' eldest son, Zachary Pym, took to his official Instagram to celebrate what would have been the late actor’s 74th birthday.
Zachary shared a colorful picture of Robin Williams and wrote a heartfelt message in the caption.
“Today would have been my dad's 74th birthday,” Zak began in the caption.
“Every year, this season arrives with gravity. In just sixty days, we pass through Father's Day, his birthday, and the anniversary of his death. It's a tender and complicated stretch of time. One that asks a lot of the heart.”
Zak also celebrated his late father on Father’s Day.
“For me, grief isn't linear. It loops and echoes. It softens, then crescendos. But alongside it lives a legacy, the kind built not from fame or recognition, but from generosity and relentless kindness. My father lived to make people feel seen. He gave permission to feel deeply and to laugh through the pain. In his absence, that mission continues.”
Zak spoke about his father’s commitment to putting smiles on people’s faces, adding that even in his father’s absence, the mission will continue. He sends a message to those who have also experienced loss in one way or the other.
“So today, I hold close the idea that the best way to honor those we love is to live the values they stood for. To lead with service and compassion. To lift others when they're down. And to find paths of light, even in the dark corners. To anyone carrying loss right now: you're not alone. You are part of a passage of love and connection that never really ends.”
He concluded the lengthy message by wishing Robin Williams a happy birthday.
“Happy birthday, Dad. Love you forever.”
