Charlie Sheen began his acting career in the 1980s through films like Red Dawn (1984), The Boys Next Door (1985), and Lucas (1986). Later on, Platoon (1986), Wall Street (1987), and The Three Musketeers (1993) brought him more fame and recognition.

In the 2000s, Sheen ventured into the television space, starring in Two and a Half Men and Anger Management, which turned him into a sensation in the sitcom space. The former project also earned him four Emmy nominations and two Golden Globe nods for playing Charlie Harper. However, the success may have been a double-edged sword for him.

Sheen's issues with alcohol and dr*gs, among other things, led to several issues in his personal and professional conduct. That's why he got fired from the CBS sitcom and has rarely acted professionally since then.

The Netflix documentary, aka Charlie Sheen, aims to shed light on different aspects of his life, where the actor is said to be evaluating his own choices. Its official synopsis, as per the streamer, reads:

"Tabloid black hole Charlie Sheen knows what’s been said about him, and he’s finally ready to confess. Directed by Andrew Renzi, aka Charlie Sheen, tracks his upbringing in Malibu to his effortless rise to megastardom — and dramatic fall, all within the public eye. With a stunning clarity earned through seven years of sobriety, Sheen openly speaks about the subjects and events he's never discussed publicly before."

It further goes like this:

"Through extraordinarily candid interviews with his family, friends, and cast members, including Denise Richards, Heidi Fleiss, Jon Cryer, Sean Penn, Ramon Estevez, Brooke Mueller, Chris Tucker, and his drug dealer Marco, the most outrageous moments of Sheen’s life are revisited with raw emotion and exceptional warmth, painting a portrait of a flawed man whose penchant for self-destruction is ultimately no match for the ferocious love and forgiveness he inspires in those closest to him."

In the end, it says,

"With seven hard-fought years of sobriety behind him, Charlie Sheen — as you’ve never seen him — finally leaves it all on the table, and revisits the very public peaks and valleys of his life with humor, heart, and jaw-dropping candor."

As earlier revealed, aka Charlie Sheen is scheduled to be released on September 10 on Netflix.
