Together, directed by Michael Shanks, stars Brie and Franco as a couple facing supernatural horror in their new home. The film is set to be released this summer. Alison Brie and Dave Franco are fighting for their lives in the latest teaser, which reveals some spine-chilling moments from their seemingly crumbling marriage.

The brief teaser reveals a few details of their gradually decaying relationship as they realize the perils of their codependency. It begins with Tim (Franco) taking a shower and getting possessed by an evil force beyond his grasp.
The couple has clearly hit a brick wall, and it seems like they may never find the comfort they sought in one another. They are walking on the thin line between love and pain, trying to use one to prove the other. Will it work? Will they live happily ever after? Or is their relationship beyond repair or redemption? We'll get the answers on July 30, 2025, when the film officially arrives in the theaters.
Together is touted as one of the finest horror films of 2025

The teaser does just enough to get the audience invested in the lives of these two lovers who are struggling to be together. It also amps up the excitement by playing Happy Together by The Turtles, a gorgeous 1960s track recounting a lover's passionate plea to spend every single moment they live with their lover.
In 1997, Wong Kar-wai's Happy Together used it as a haunting backdrop against the tale of a doomed romance between Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Leslie Cheung's characters. Nearly two decades later, Brie and Franco's characters are contemplating the fate of their bond as this cheerful track echoes what they feel—despite what they are going through.
The Allison Brie and James Franco starrer is yet to receive a wide theatrical release, but it has already won over the hearts of those who saw it during its 2025 Sundance premiere.
The critics loved it so much that they all gave it a positive review, taking its Rotten Tomatoes score to a perfect 100%. With those ratings, it is joining the list of acclaimed horror titles of 2025 alongside Sinners, Nosferatu, 28 Years Later, The Damned, Presence, Final Destination Bloodlines, The Monkey, and more.
Writer-director Michael Shanks, who brought this visceral body-horror flick to the festival, has since been caught in a plagiarism lawsuit issue, along with the stars Brie and Franco, and the distributor Neon. They were accused of copyright infringement by writer-director Patrick Henry Phelan, behind the 2023 indie film, Better Half.
In response, Shanks spoke in detail about when he worked on this idea, registered it with the Writers Guild of America (WGA), and more. Here's the post shared by the filmmaker and the studio:
