Former NFL star Mark Sanchez has a net worth of $40 million, as per Celebrity Net Worth. Sanchez was arrested after being stabbed on October 3 in downtown Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Metropolitan police department, in a statement, said that Sanchez was arrested "for battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication."
Mark Sanchez allegedly approached a 69-year-old man, who works for a company that exchanges commercial frying oil. As per the affidavit, Sanchez, who smelled of alcohol and was slurring his words, confronted the truck driver, who required hearing aids.
"PT did not have his hearing aids in because his truck is very loud when he is exchanging the frying oil for the hotel, so he had to lean in close to Mr Sanchez to hear him. When PT leaned in, he stated that Mr Sanchez smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred."
According to court documents, the truck driver confessed that Sanchez allegedly body-slammed him, prompting the driver to stab Sanchez multiple times in self-defense.
"This is guy is trying to kill me"
The alleged victim can be seen wearing a neck brace and covered in blood, while lying bruised in a hospital bed.
What have police officials said about Mark Sanchez's altercation with an elderly man?
Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears stated on October 5 that the incident should never have occurred. While giving more details on the incident, Mears said
"This incident should have never happened. What began as a disagreement between a 38-year old former professional athlete and a 69-year old former professional athlete should not have escalated into violence or left anyone seriously injured. As with any case, we will follow the facts and the law wherever they lead."
As per the video recording from the Marriott Downtown hotel, Mark Sanchez can be seen approaching the driver and opening the truck door. After speaking to the driver, he walked over to the security office doors of the hotel. The affidavit mentions that Sanchez ran after the man before "grabbing and throwing" him towards the wall of the Westin.
A witness who saw the altercation said that he thought the pair were friends before they began recording each other on cell phones. Sanchez was stabbed two or three times before the driver turned out and headed up to the alley, as per the affidavit.
A hearing for the case is yet to be set.
