Steph Curry, in July 2024, had expressed his distaste for Kendrick Lamar's diss track at Drake, Not Like Us. After the USA's Basketball team won against Serbia in Abu Dhabi, the DJ played the Lamar track, and Curry looked visibly annoyed.

Curry voiced his frustration and said,

Da** with this song. It's not the only song in America."

While LeBron James seemed to be enjoying the track, and said, "I love it."

Now, a year later, Curry discussed his friendship with Drake during a recent interview with Complex and reflected on the viral video of him complaining about the track being played after a game.

Steph opened up about his longtime friendship with Drake and said,

"We go way back though and it's actually kind of a family thing too. One of Ayesha's cousins is from Toronto and the whole deal. So, we're all in the same boat."

Steph Curry addressed the viral video and said that he was frustrated both because the track was being overplayed and due to his loyalty to Drake.

"Oh, it was both. Everywhere we went, it was all I heard. And, the fact that they know who I was with. You can't do nothing about what the DJ's playing. But I was like, I got sick of it at a certain point. It's funny the cameras caught me because that was from the soul."

More about Steph Curry and Drake's friendship

In an August 2024 interview with GQ, Steph Curry opened up about supporting Drake amidst his beef with Kendrick Lamar. When asked if he wanted to comment on the beef, Steph said,

"I'm a big Drake guy. I've been for a long time. I think obviously you know what it is for the rap industry to have that, but I still rock with Drake. Absolutely. Absolutely."

In Lamar's track, Not Like Us, he allegedly accuses Drake of being a pedophile, with the lyrics,

"Say, Drake, I hear you like 'em young. You better not ever go to cell block one."

He also referenced Drake's album, Certified Lover Boy, and said, "Certified Lover Boy? Certified Pedophiles."

Lamar had also name-dropped Curry in his song, Meet the Grahamas released in May. He invoked the basketball star while accusing Drake of pedophilia and said, "Hey, Curry, keep the family away/ To anybody that embodies the love for kids, keep the family away."

He also added, "They lookin' at you too if you standin' by him, keep the family away." Lamar by the track insinuated that Steph Curry could also be considered a pedophile for his friendship with Drake.
