A House of Dynamite stars, Rebecca Ferguson and Idris Elba, recently spoke to Extra TV. Ferguson shared her thoughts on the film's urgent message regarding nuclear weapons. She said,

“I haven’t been as enlightened and at all educated in the matter of not just nuclear weapons… but not really understanding the power of it and the fact that, as we have said so many times now, one entity has the possibility of pressing a button and nuking a world. A person who is the least trained on the matter.”

Elba added,

"The world is doom and gloom right? You turn on the news, it’s all there. That saying that what you don’t know can’t hurt you is not true. What you do know, right, you can have a further understanding — and that can help protect us all.”

The film had its world premiere at the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in the main competition section, where it also received a 13-minute standing ovation. When asked about it, Ferguson said there is no comparison between a film's quality to the number of minutes people clapped for it.

“I don’t understand the comparison of a good film compared to the minutes of clapping. Kathryn [Bigelow] was ready to leave that within two minutes… She walked out after 13 minutes while they were still going on, but the value of the film has nothing to do with the mirroring of amount of claps.”

Elba, however, said that he loved that moment.

"I loved it. 13 minutes? I could have done 13 minutes more."

A House of Dynamite is produced by Bigelow, Noah Oppenheim and Greg Shapiro. It was released theatrically on October 10 and will be streaming on Netflix from October 24.
