A Husband to Die For is based on a real-life incident around a woman named Lisa Aguilar. She was stabbed around 50 times and was hospitalized for days. Despite such a major attack, she managed to survive. However, the biggest shock came when she found out that the attacker was her husband. She was pregnant with his child.

Lifetime has announced three films under a series called “Ripped From the Headlines,” and The Lisa Aguilar Story is one of them. The other ones are The Girl Who Survived: The Alina Thompson Story and I Was a Child Bride: The Courtney Stodden Story, which will release on September 20 and September 27, respectively.

The film focuses on a lady named Lisa who finds out that her husband Darren panicked after finding out that she is pregnant. He then started seeing a younger girl and realized that he did not want a child. This is where he plans to eliminate his wife.

The film's cast includes,

  • Keana Lyn Bastidas as Lisa Aguilar
  • Jon McLaren as Darren
  • Chris Violette as Dave
  • Cynthia Preston as Angela Backers
  • Mark Tremplin as Minister
  • Cassandra Potenza as Michelle Morris
  • Marilu Henner as Lisa's grandmother
  • Tristen Sky as a waiter
  • Jorge Molina as John Aguilar

In a US Weekly interview, Marilu Henner spoke about the film.

“We all need that person in our lives who will be honest with us. So I loved playing a character that was kind of the voice of reason. The world has to see this, because there are a lot of people out there who probably feel victimized in their relationships and don't even realize it.”
