Amy Robach admits that her shotgun engagement to Andrew Shue may be "a little embarrassing."

The former broadcast journalist, 52, sat down for an interview with the I Do, Part 2 podcast on May 21, where she reflected on calling her impromptu engagement to Shue "embarrassing," as she and her current boyfriend, T.J. Holmes, reflected on how long they dated their former partners before tying the knot.

“[My] first one I was so young, but it was a year engagement,” she recalled of her marriage to Tim McIntosh, whom she was married to from 1996 to 2008. “I dated for a year and then got engaged after a year. So I got married after two years.”

Speaking of Shue, she noted that the pair got quickly engaged "after four months" of dating. She added, per People:

"I got married after ten months of meeting him."

The pair got hitched in 2010. Shue was the father of sons Nate, Aidan and Wyatt, whom he shares with ex Jennifer Hageney and Robach, the mom of daughters Ava and Annie, whom she welcomed in her previous marriage. They were married for about 12 years before Robach and Holmes' relationship caught the public's eye in November 2022.

As reported by Us Weekly, Holmes, 47, shared that in contrast, he waited “longer” before tying the knot with both of his exes. He was previously married to Amy Ferson from 2004 to 2007, and in 2010, he wed Marilee Fiebig, though they split in 2023.

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes stirred a scandal when their relationship inadvertently went public, right around the time it was confirmed that the former had split up with her husband. Us Weekly broke the news in January 2023 that the pair had been fired from ABC as the network revealed their departure from GMA3.

However, the pair has long maintained that there was no philandering involved in the timeline of their relationship. As reported by the outlet, in the debut episode of the Amy and T.J. podcast in December 2023, Holmes said:

“To be clear, we were outed as being in a relationship, but everyone else thought we were being outed as adulterers — being outed as cheating on our spouses — and it wasn’t the case because the odd thing is, the day those pictures were taken and the day that article was released, we both, at that point, were in divorce proceedings."

At the time, Amy Robach claimed her and Shue's marriage had come to an end prior to dating Holmes:

“We had attorneys, mediators, we were in the middle of divorces,” she shared. “We thought we were protecting our children and our families and we thought we had time and we thought we had a right to privacy and maybe that was foolish and silly.”

At the time, however, Holmes had not publicly announced the demise of his marriage with ex-wife Marilee Fiebig, though they finalized their divorce in October 2023. Amy Robach and Shue's divorce was finalized in March that year.

During a December 2024 episode of their podcast, Amy Robach got candid about eventually walking down the aisle with Holmes, noting that it's only a matter of time:

“It’s not an if, it’s a when. I like that. I actually appreciate that,” Robach said. “T.J., you told me that I should never propose to you.” She said to a surprised Holmes, “Remember, we were talking about women proposing to men? But I’m just saying that if I answer this, I feel like that’d be kind of in part me saying when I would like to get married.” She added: “We don’t have a date, obviously, and we haven’t even decided what we’re going to do. [But] I said I want to and I’d like to in the fall [and] that would be akin to me proposing to you.”

In a June 2024 episode, as reported by People, the couple explained how they already see each other as man and wife, as Holmes recalled an instance where a store employee referred to Amy Robach as his "wife."

“I didn't correct her,” Holmes said at the time. “Later, we were checking out and we were left. She said, ‘You guys are so cute,’ and all this. And she said, ‘You guys boyfriend and girlfriend or husband and wife?’ And my answer was—” “Both,” Robach chimed in, adding, “And I think they thought that we were husband and wife, and it was sweet that you were also saying I'm your girlfriend, too. 'Is she your wife or your girlfriend? And you said both.' And they said, ‘Good answer.’ ” “It had a nice ring to it,” Holmes said. “I didn't mind it at all.”

During the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March 2025, Amy Robach was spotted sporting a large diamond ring on her ring finger, leaving fans to speculate about her marital status. At the time of writing, she has yet to comment on the news.
