Marvel has a habit of hiding gems in its deleted scenes and Fantastic Four: First Steps is no exception. While the film successfully managed to introduce us to Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm, one character never really made it to the spotlight as he deserved. We're talking, of course, about Mole Man.

In the theatrical cut, Paul Walter Hauser's Mole Man feels more like an afterthought. He pops up, hints at being in trouble, then suddenly shows up again to save New York. Many fans pointed out Mole Man's lack of weight in the story, which was disappointing to many as he was an important part of the comics. But now the deleted scenes from Fantastic Four: First Steps show a completely different angle; one that did not throw Mole Man under the ignorance bus.

A deleted scene like Subterranea, included in Fantastic Four: First Steps's physical release shows Sue Storm working on one of her other super powers: Diplomcy. Here we see her sit down with Mole Man to negotiate peace, promising a partnership between his people and the surface. Her calm pragmatism convinces him and the foundation is laid for his later cooperation.

The scene is one of the many deleted scenes included in the physical copy of the film, which will be available for purchase from October 14 on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-Ray and DVD.

The first film in the sixth phase, Fantastic Four: First Steps brought back Marvel's First Family, consisting of Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and The Thing. Reintroduced in the MCU, the story follows them as they face off against Galactus, the devourer of worlds as the Silver Surfer arrives on Earth to herald his destruction of the planet. As the Fantastic Four make their way to Galactus to negotiate, he asks for Sue Storm's unborn child in return for his mercy on the people of Earth.

The film is a crucial addition to the sixth phase, as it lays down the foundation for everything Marvel has planned for the upcoming films. Fantastic Four: First Steps ends as we get a glimpse at Victor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr, who will next be seen in Avengers: Doomsday. It also introduces Franklin Richards, Sue and Reed's son, who will most likely become an important character in the later stages of the MCU. All the characters are set to reprise their roles in Avengers: Doomsday.

Fantastic Four: First Steps garnered mixed reviews from audiences and critics, and made a worldwide total of $518.9 million at the box office. As of now, the film is awaiting digital release on October 14, and will also be available for streaming soon.
