British former professional tennis player Sir Andrew Barron Murray, commonly known as Andy Murray, officially retired from the sport on August 1, 2024, after his final match at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which was his last competitive game. However, just a year after his retirement, the celebrated former tennis champion has decided to pursue a new and different career path.
Andy Murray, who has been coaching his ex-rival, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic, since his retirement, has decided to become a motivational speaker and has even officially signed up for it. Tennis hero Murray, who was born on May 15, 1987, in Glasgow, United Kingdom, will be talking and sharing his thoughts on peak tennis performance, mental toughness, and how to cope and deal with adversity.
The winner of three Grand Slam titles, Andy, has signed up with Chartwell Speaker, a London-based global speaker agency that primarily works with entrepreneurs, authors, corporate icons, renowned journalists, Nobel laureates, and thought leaders. The agency is also known for being a trusted partner to several major North American firms.
Chartwell Speaker's other clients include high-profile personalities like former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, popular television host Graham Norton, British Olympian Mo Farah, and others. According to Chartwell's website, regarding Murray's collaboration with the agency, it says:
"Andy’s story of overcoming adversity continues to inspire both on and off the court. Despite hip injury in 2018 and 2019, his resilience and passion for the game have seen him return to the court, inspiring millions with his determination to compete at the highest level. Murray’s insights on adversity, leadership, and peak performance make him a sought after speaker at events worldwide. His ability to connect with audiences and share his experiences offers valuable lessons in resilience, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence."
Andy Murray's former coach shares what surprised her about Andy coaching the Serbian tennis champion, Novak Djokovic

Andy Murray has been working with Novak Djokovic as his coach. He has guided him to the 2025 Australian Open semi-finals and the Miami Open finals. As the collaboration between the two champions came as a bit of a shocker, Andy's former coach, Amelie Mauresmo, who worked with the former British tennis player from 2014 to 2016, revealed what particularly surprised her regarding Murray coaching Djokovic. Mauresmo shared her thoughts with the French Open's YouTube channel, saying:
"I was surprised but not shocked kind of. It’s something that resembles both of them. One for Novak to have this kind of thought, having the idea to call Andy. Because Novak has been coached by Boris Becker and he is always looking for a new pair of eyes to see his game and bring him new things and also the friendship they have is maybe something that he needed. And then for Andy to say yes, I am not that surprised or not shocked. Because he loves challenges and he is a guy that is curious about everything. I thought he would go into coaching but not as early as this, especially because of the family to be honest. I did not see him travelling again, although he is travelling less than he was playing, but I did not see him travelling as much with the four kids."
