The Dink is the forthcoming film in the sports comedy genre. It is the second collaboration between Ben Stiller and Apple after his web series Severance. The film will take place with pickle balls in the background, a sport that has been growing and gaining traction over the years.

Stiller's earlier work, Severance, received critical acclaim and multiple Primetime Emmy nominations. Given the hype around the show, we can expect that viewers will be interested in Stiller's collab with the studio for the second time. Let's find out all the details about this forthcoming film that fans might be interested in knowing.

Ben Stiller and Apple come together for The Dink

The forthcoming comedy sports drama film The Dink has been bought by Apple Original Films. Josh Greenbaum is the director who had earlier helmed projects like Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar and Will Harper. The script is written by Sean Clements. Jake Johnson will be starring in the film as the protagonist.

It is produced by Ben Stiller, Jake Johnson, John Lesher, Rob Paris, and Mike Witherill under their production banners of Rivulet Films and Red Hour Films. The film's official synopsis, as per Letterboxd reads,

A washed-up tennis pro who, in trying to save a club in crisis and win his father’s respect, is forced to break a solemn vow and do the one thing he swore he’d never do: play pickleball.

Besides Johnson, who plays the protagonist, the film will also star Stiller, Mary Steenburgen, Christine Taylor, Patton Oswalt, Chris Parnell, Ed Harris, Aaron Chen, and Chloe Fineman. Real-life tennis players John McEnroe and Andy Roddick also have supporting roles in the film.

Greenbaum, Sean Clements, Rick Steele, Jonathan McCoy, Joe Hardesty, and Daniel Crosser are serving as executive producers.

The Dink is a part of a deal between Stiller and Apple that earlier gave us Severance. The studio is also backing Stiller's documentary film Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost, which focuses on the Zoolander actors' late parents, Anne Meara and Jerry Stiller. The duo used to be a comedy team and actors with long careers.

Johnson is also set to star alongside Tatiana Maslany in Apple’s upcoming comedic thriller “Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed.” Stiller and Rivulet recently collaborated on “Nutcrackers,” which was directed by David Gordon Green and released in November.
