“Always leaves us with a sense of hope” - Prince William praises David Attenborough as TV icon turns 99

Prince William paid tribute to Sir David Attenborough on the TV star's birthday. On May 8, 2025, the renowned broadcaster turned 99.

On this special day, the Prince of Wales acknowledged the historian's contribution, unwavering commitment, and dedication to "protect natural habitats."

In an Instagram carousel post, the Prince and Princess of Wales honored the legendary biologist, sharing a beautiful candid picture of Prince William and Sir David Attenborough. The official page also posted another photo of him posing with the Royal couple and their kids.

With this thoughtful gesture, the Royal family appreciated Attenborough, sharing how he inspires hope:

"Sir David always leaves us with a sense of hope and optimism."

Prince William wished David Attenborough on his 99th birthday

Lauding the talented and committed individual for his passion to explore the depths of nature and highlighting the urgent need to preserve it, the post caption reads:

"As he turns 99 today, in his new film, Sir David has once again reminded us of the need to protect natural habitats - this time those beneath the ocean. He has dedicated his life to ensuring we understand the realities of what mankind is doing to the planet."

Sir David has influenced several generations over the last few decades. He is loved for raising awareness about environmental issues and interesting storytelling, among other noteworthy abilities.

The birthday tribute also mentions:

"However hard hitting his message is, Sir David always leaves us with a sense of hope and optimism that all is not lost and this film is no different."

Highlighting the necessity to save oceans, it further states:

"We must act together, with urgency, to restore our oceans."

Sir Attenborough shares a cordial connection with the Royals. On May 6, the Royal Festival Hall in London hosted the premiere of the prominent host's new film, Ocean with David Attenborough. Among the eminent guests gracing their presence at the venue, King Charles also attended the event.

According to People Magazine, the Life in the Undergrowth presenter shared a strong connection with Queen Elizabeth. Over the last few decades, he has created memories with members of the Royal family across different generations.

In 2020, Sir David had a great time with Prince William’s kids: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

According to The Telegraph, the prince praised Sir David for his work, saying he is:

"The single most important impact in my conservation thinking."

Prince William further continued:

"When I was a young boy, I used to love turning on the television and watching David's programmes and really feeling like I was back out in Africa or I was learning about something magical and almost out of this planet."

Admiration for Attenborough and his notable contributions extends across generations among the Royals. Even the children of the Prince and Princess of Wales are fans of his influential work.
