Anne Hathaway is back, and she’s serving major Andy Sachs energy for The Devil Wears Prada 2.
In an Instagram post that was shared on July 21, the 42‑year‑old actress teased her role in The Devil Wears Prada 2, channeling her iconic fashionista era again. Captioning it as "Andy Sachs 2025" the actress gave fans the first visual sneak peek into the upcoming sequel of the beloved cult classic.
This was not the only peek Hathaway teased. She also took to TikTok to post a video of herself practicing her morning routine: electric toothbrush in hand, messy hair, and the cherry-on-top, a cerulean blue sweater. The shade? A savvy callback to the infamous “it’s actually cerulean” speech, meaning this nod isn’t just blue, it’s fashion lore deep. The short clip, captioned “Heading to werk #dwp2,” sent fans into full-blown nostalgia mode, complete with thousands of likes and comments that noted the cerulean blue sweater.
But this sweet first look isn’t all costume references. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is officially filming, with original cast members Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci back on set. Production kicked off in New York, led once again by director David Frankel and scripted by Aline Brosh McKenna.
The sequel promises to revisit the power struggles of Runway magazine, spotlighting Miranda Priestly’s fight to survive in a world where print media is fading and her former assistant Emily has become a key rival.
More details on The Devil Wears Prada 2
Nearly two decades after The Devil Wears Prada slayed the box office, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is now filming. Production began on June 30, 2025, in New York. Returning in full force are Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs, Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton, and Stanley Tucci as Nigel Kipling. They’re joined behind the camera by David Frankel directing and Aline Brosh McKenna writing the screenplay.
Joining them also are Kenneth Branagh plays Miranda’s husband, while Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Simone Ashley, Helen J. Shen, Caleb Hearon, Conrad Ricamora, plus Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman as Lily and Irv are also on board. But yes, Adrian Grenier’s Nate is officially not coming back.
While the script is still hush-hush, early reports point to Miranda fighting to keep Runway alive in the crumbling traditional magazine business. Meanwhile, Emily, now a luxury advertising exec, holds the purse strings and puts the power dynamic on full‑tilt fashion drama.
The film's timing also seems kind of perfect. Anna Wintour just stepped down from Vogue in real life, so the movie’s take on fading print empires and fashion power plays feels very now. Expect sharp dialogue, stunning looks, and probably another monologue that’ll be quoted for the next twenty years.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is slated to release in theaters on May 1, 2026.
