Paul Feig, famous for directing movies like Ghostbusters and Bridesmaids, has recently shared that he’s open to working with actress Blake Lively again. Feig, now sixty-two years old, directed the 2018 black comedy mystery movie, A Simple Favor, which starred Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick.
In a report shared by People, Feig explains that he has mapped out the plot for what could happen next for Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick’s characters. Speaking about the possibility of launching a third movie after the recent launch of ‘Another Simple Favor’, he shared:
"I definitely know where I want it to go,"
"We'll see if everybody wants to do a third one. It was too much fun — I would love to get back together with this group and these characters and send them on an even weirder, international adventure, if possible." Added Feig.
The newest installment shifts the setting from the quiet charm of a Connecticut town to the sun-drenched cliffs of Capri, Italy. Feig later expressed interest in taking the characters international.
"I think we need to take them out into the world even more," explained Feig.
The first movie in the franchise, A Simple Favor, released in 2018, was based on Darcey Bell’s novel of the same name. Writers Jessica Sharzer and Laeta Kalogridis are behind the script for the current sequel.
"I certainly would love to get to spend time with these characters and these actors again." Kalogridis said of the returning cast.
She also hinted at director Paul Feig’s vision for the movie franchise.
“Has quite the plan going on all the time.”shared Kalogridis.
However, at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival, director Paul Feig didn’t hide the creative uncertainty surrounding the film’s second chapter.
“There were a lot of times in the development of this I tried to kill it because I was just like, ‘If we don't get it right, let's not do it,’ ” explained Feig, according to USA Today.
In an interview by Collider, Feig explained in detail why he wasn't a fan of sequels.
“See, so there's further to fall with a sequel. The other problem is sequels, the first movie is always, if it's good, the reason it works is because [you're] discovering everything for the first time. You're discovering these characters. And a movie only exists to have a character that has a problem, and the problem gets solved by the end of the movie. Unless it's a shitty movie. Like, okay, I'm great at the beginning, and I'm great at the end – it's that process of healing a character and taking them through the wringer that takes you to the end of the movie and it makes you very happy.”
Blake Lively's Emily Nelson Isn’t Who She Seems

Blake Lively stars as Emily Nelson, a glamorous and enigmatic woman whose polished exterior masks a deeper mystery. Opposite her is Anna Kendrick as Stephanie, a widowed mother who maintains a modest lifestyle and runs a parenting vlog.
The two women meet through their young sons, who attend the same elementary school, and form an unlikely but seemingly genuine friendship. However, the relationship takes a dark turn when Emily suddenly disappears without explanation. Troubled by the vanishing and driven by instinct, Stephanie begins to investigate her friend’s absence.
Recently, Blake Lively has been involved in controversies due to her ongoing public legal drama with Justin Baldoni. Her claims were followed by a defamation countersuit from Baldoni, who is seeking $400 million in damages and has named both Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, in his filing.
