Ex-NFL player Antonio Brown has seemingly responded for the first time after deciding not to contest his extradition to the US. As reported by No Jumper on X (formerly known as Twitter), a story 'thanking God' was reportedly shared by Brown's account on Instagram.

Earlier in the development, Brown was presented to the Essex County jail in New Jersey following his arrest in Dubai. Carmen Martin, the county prosecutor's spokeswoman, informed the local press:

“Brown is back at the Essex County Jail in Newark where he is awaiting pick up by Florida authorities”

The former player will be moved back to Florida after not contesting the extradition, according to CNN.

What did Antonio Brown do?

As per the arrest warrant, Brown reportedly grabbed a handgun from the security staff and fired shots at an individual he got into a fight with outside Adin Ross's boxing event on May 16. The 'victim', identified as Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, has suffered non-fatal injuries.

The arrest affidavit explains things further,

“Cellphone video obtained from social media showed Mr. Brown with the firearm in his hand advancing toward Mr. Nantambu on the outside walk. The video captures two shots which occur as Mr. Brown is within several feet of Mr. Nantambu. The video also captures Mr. Nantambu ducking after the first shot is heard.”

Interestingly, Antonio Brown wasn't arrested at once as the police 'failed to identify' Nantambu as the victim. Furthermore, questions have been raised about the authorities' delay in arresting Brown, as he had been living in Dubai for several months. Questions were also raised about why he was brought to New Jersey instead of Miami.

He has been charged with second-degree murder, which in Florida carries a maximum prison sentence of 15 years and a cash fine of up to $10,000 if convicted.

Soon after the incident, however, Brown defended his actions by labelling them as self-defense.

“I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me.”

Brown spent a total of 12 years in the NFL. He last played in the 2021-22 season, appearing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after spending most of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In a 2021 matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Jets, Antonio Brown abruptly removed his jersey, shoulder pads, and gloves before storming off the field, an incident that led to his release from the Buccaneers and effectively marked the end of his football career.
