Jhené Aiko and rapper Big Sean have reportedly called it quits after nearly a decade together. According to AllHipHop, sources claim the longtime couple have split, though neither Jhené nor Big Sean have publicly addressed the rumors. The two first got together in the mid-2010s and, while they were never married, had been one of music’s most beloved pairs.

Both Grammy-nominated artists, Jhené Aiko and Big Sean, teamed up for a joint album back in 2016. Over the years, they often opened up about their relationship and the journey they shared. During an appearance on the Out of Context podcast, Big Sean spoke about why the couple hadn’t tied the knot despite being together for more than a decade. He said:

"It's a little personal, you know what I mean? But just like to be real with you, just like any people who have dealt with love, we've had our ups and downs, you know what I'm saying? And I think it's still finding the right navigation through it all.”

Here’s what Jhené Aiko and Big Sean have shared about their relationship over the years

Jhené Aiko and Big Sean, whose real name is Michael Leonard Anderson, first crossed paths in 2012. According to People magazine, they didn’t start dating until 2016, and in 2022, they welcomed their first child together, a son named Noah Hasani. As reported by AllHipHop, a source close to the couple shared that Jhené was ready to take their relationship to the next level through marriage, but Big Sean wasn’t quite prepared for that step.

In a 2016 interview with Billboard, Big Sean reflected on his then-new relationship with Aiko, explaining how they began dating. He said:

"Jhené is more than just a friend. I don't know how else to describe it — me and her are just cool like that. I love her and I know she loves me. I was down to make that commitment — something that will last and be different from the rest."

According to Entertainment Weekly, Aiko, who had previously called Big Sean her "family," also explained the importance of friendship in her relationship with the rapper. In her 2021 interview with DJ Khaled, the singer said:

"Our friendship is really strong, so that has made our relationship what it is, just that foundation of real friends who really know each other on that level

The couple have faced their share of ups and downs over the years. They briefly split in 2018, during which Jhené Aiko reportedly covered up a tattoo of Big Sean she had gotten the year before. In a separate interview, Jhené opened up about how the loss of her brother in 2012 deeply influenced her connection with Big Sean. She shared that, even though she was in another relationship at the time, the two formed a bond that grew stronger over the years.

In a 2024 interview with Charlamagne Tha God on the Out of Context podcast, Big Sean admitted that marriage was something he had been thinking about. However, he also acknowledged that there was still "a lot of work that needs to be done" in his relationship with Jhené Aiko before they could reach that place.

Jhené Aiko also has a daughter, Namiko Love, whom she welcomed in 2008 with R&B singer O’Ryan Omri Browner. The two were recently seen attending the Los Angeles vs. Portland Trail Blazers game.
