Markieff Morris is breaking his silence in the wake of his brother Marcus Morris' arrest. The former Los Angeles Clippers forward was arrested in Broward County, Florida on Sunday in connection with fraud charges, according to an exclusive report by TMZ.

He is being detained without bond, Essentially Sports added. Per the outlet, he was arrested on a warrant issued out of state for allegedly writing a bad check. According to reports, Marcus was arrested at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

The 13-year NBA veteran's twin brother, Markieff Morris, has since taken to X to launch a tirade. Markieff wrote:

'The wording is crazy. Damn for that amount of money they'll embarrass you in the airport with your family." He added: "They could have came to the crib for all that. When y'all hear the real story on this s**t man. All I can say is Lesson learned. Bro will tell y'all tomorrow. This weird s**t gave me a headache. Can't stop nothin!"

Markieff and Marcus Morris made headlines back in February 2013, when the latter got traded to the Phoenix Suns, where his brother was also playing. This made them the first pair of siblings to ever play on the same NBA team.

The duo was born to Thomasine Morris, a single mother, and their father's name remains unclear. They have three other brothers, Donte, Blake, and David Morris.

Marcus Morris's previous brushes with the law explored

As reported by Daily Mail, about half an hour later, Yony Noy, the attorney representing the twins, issued a statement online:

"Just so everyone understands this is zero fraud here or whatever cr*p outlets have said regarding fake checks or whatever the hell. This is due to an outstanding marker with a casino. Apparently if you have over $1,200 they can issue a warrant for your arrest. Absolute insanity!"

A source told the outlet that the casino he was referring to is in Las Vegas. Failing to pay a marker, which is the equivalent of writing a bad check, is punishable by law with fines and up to four years in prison.

Notably, this is not Marcus Morris' first run-in with the law. In 2012, he was arrested on charges of battery, prompting him to undergo a diversion program as part of rehab.

Per Daily Mail, at the time, he and someone else punched a bar employee in Lawrence, Kansas. They were watching a basketball game at the time. Three years later, he was charged with assault during an alleged fight, though he was later acquitted.

Marcus Morris' legal troubles came as a shock as he was geared up to set foot in the world of media as a free agent who hasn't signed with any team. He recently made an appearance on ESPN’s First Take.
