Ayesha Curry’s growth under the spotlight has been a sight to behold. Recently, Curry made an appearance at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, Colorado, where she caught up with People Magazine for a conversation.

The basis of Ayesha Curry’s interview circles around the growing list of mouths she has to feed. This applies to the patrons of her restaurant and her family of five: Her husband, Stephen Curry, and their 4 children. She discussed how Steph’s eating habits have changed as he enters the twilight of his playing days:

“For the majority of his career, I would make a game day pasta, and then the past five years, four years, that shifted because he altered his workout a little bit and needed different nutrients at different times. And so now on game days when he's home, I make him breakfast, but then we skip the game day pasta. So things shifted.”

Ayesha then went on to share which family member was the pickiest eater of all:

“My oldest son is the pickiest eater — my [6-year-old], Cannon. People told me, ‘There's always going to be one,’ and I was like so arrogant and was like, ‘There's no way,’ ” she continues, laughing. “But I have a mac and cheese kid. Is what it is!”

The multi-talented culinary star and Steph also share children Riley, Ryan, and Caius.

Ayesha Curry shares thoughts on the culinary scene, more

Ayesha Curry also divulged her thoughts regarding the ever-changing landscape of the culinary world. In her conversation with People Magazine, she also spoke to the diversity of the food in the Bay Area and how it has shaped her palette and understanding of various cuisines:

“It’s turned me into an absolute spoiled brat. It gave me this playground to truly create new dishes, to develop my palate, and I will forever be grateful to the Bay for that.”

She has channeled this curiosity into International Smoke, an international barbecue-driven restaurant she co-owns with chef Michael Mina. While the Bay Area location is currently still in operation, the chain's three other locations in Houston, Del Mar, California, and Las Vegas closed as of January 2025. Curry shared her views on the journey so far:

“It’s been tumultuous. It is a tough industry. But at the same time, it's a beautiful industry, and I think anybody in hospitality knows how quickly your environment becomes your family. And so I think that part of it has surprised me the most, like how quickly people become family."

She continued:

“I honestly didn't realize how hard it was going to be, but I'm grateful for this experience and this journey. You know, I've said, Rome wasn't built in a day. Sometimes when you're playing Jenga, the tower falls, and then you rebuild it, and it's okay. And so I think [it's important] having that perspective, especially when it comes to hospitality and the restaurant industry.”

Over the past eight years, Ayesha Curry has been working with her stepsister, Sydel Curry-Lee, on Domaine Curry, a wine brand founded in 2015 and now part of The Prisoner Wine Company. Ayesha also spoke on the struggles she’s faced in that domain since the brand’s inception:

“It's definitely male-dominated. But what I've learned since being in this industry for the past eight years now is that there are a lot of bad-a-- women doing really cool things, and you just have to find them.”

Curry went on to say:

“You learn so much from them. And I think the absolute best part is that all of these women are so warm, welcoming, inviting and willing to take you along and teach you anything you want to know.”

Switching gears, Ayesha Curry also shared that she is looking forward to taking an anniversary trip with her husband, although she did not go into further detail about the timeline or the couple’s potential itinerary.
