"Be still my beating heart" - Halsey reflects on fiancé Avan Jogia's proposal one year later

On May 26, Halsey took to Instagram to share a video of her and fiancé Avan Jogia looking at each other, to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Jogia proposing to her. This comes after in September 2024, Halsey or Ashley Nicolette Frangipane confirmed her engagement to Jogia on an X post by calling him her fiancé.

However, as per Ashley's post, Jogia had proposed to her a month earlier. In the caption, the singer mentions:

"Today is 1 yr since the dark magic worked and this fine *ss man asked me to marry him. be still my beating heart 🧚🏼 @jogia"

The video is from an advertisement for the singer's beauty company, "about-face." The singer's fiancé, Avan Jogia, starred in Nickelodeon's Victorious as Beck. Before Victorious, the actor was seen in the 2006 TV movie, A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story, and as Tajid in the 2009 film, Spectacular!

Ashley and Avan Jogia first sparked relationship rumors after they were spotted together in Barcelona, Spain, in June 2023, before they were spotted engaging in PDA during a night out in Los Angeles in September 2023.

The two were also photographed together in Los Angeles as they attended the 2024 Gold Gala, which celebrates Asian and Pacific Islander representation in entertainment and rocked outfits by an Indian designer, Sabyasachi.

In September 2024, a day after the 2024 MTV VMAs, the singer confirmed her engagement to Jogia by resharing an X post, which said:

"Halsey says she hopes to marry boyfriend Avan Jogia."

And corrected the tweet by writing:

"***fiance Avan Jogia."

During an October 2024 appearance on Alex Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, the singer dished in detail on how the actor proposed:

"He proposed in Barcelona. It's kind of where we first started hanging out, so it's really special to us...Immediately afterwards (he) left to go shoot a show for, like, six, months in Canada, and I was like, 'Ok, bye."

Halsey mentioned that at the time she "wasn't sure that (she) was ready" for a relationship when the two initially met. The singer also noted that she "never wanted to be married," but things changed with Jogia's turn of, and the singer said:

"I just knew I wanted to marry him."
