Miley Cyrus recently talked about the new tattoo that she got done in honor of her mother.
Days after the former Disney child star revealed that she regrets 80% of her tattoos, the Flowers singer, 32, spoke to People Magazine at the Chanel Tribeca Festival Women’s Luncheon, which was held to celebrate her Through Her Lens program.
The event, hosted at the Greenwich Hotel Courtyard in New York City on June 6, witnessed Miley Cyrus and her mother, Tish Cyrus, in attendance. There, they spoke about the former's latest tattoo and the meaning behind it.
As reported by the outlet, just this Monday, N.Y.C.'s Bang Bang Tattoo artist Michelle Santana shared a photo of the new tattoo on Instagram, which features the word "muse" on the Something Beautiful artist's shoulders.
"It says 'muse,'" she told the outlet. "And it's really for her, because my mom is my muse." She added, "mom was going to get matching with me, but she was out of town."

Miley Cyrus also sat down for an interview with The New York Times recently, where she was asked about “a mistake you’ve made that you still think about,” prompting her to say, “80%” of her tattoos.
“I don’t regret them enough to laser them, but some of them... like I love my cat, but I didn’t need that,” she said, referring to a cat on her left arm. “I love my dog, but, like, I don’t know, just having a pit bull in every picture for the rest of my life is kind of intense,” she said. “There’s just a few I could do without.”
Miley Cyrus has referred to her mother as her muse in the past. Back in April, she shared a clip from her private performance of her track, End of the World, at Los Angeles’ Chateau Marmont last year, ahead of its release. At the time, she credited her mother for serving as the inspiration behind the track.
“The secret of a song before it’s released is such a sacred time,” she wrote in the caption. “I am honored today to have it out in the world, hopefully bringing some joy, but on this night, I was singing only to the person I wrote it for. My muse, my mom. xMiley”
At the time, rumors that she had been feuding with her mother were rampant, as eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice that her mother had unfollowed her. However, Miley Cyrus refuted the claims, as she and Tish both confirmed that it was just a mistake. The latter said she had "no idea how that happened" and the problem was "fixed."
"I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us," Miley penned in a statement on her Instagram Stories at the time. "She's my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn't know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental, and uninteresting."
She went on,
"Now, in my thirties, family is my priority above all else. I'm at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family."
Notably, Miley Cyrus also once got matching tattoos with Pete Davidson, who is currently in the expensive and painful process of getting all of his 200 removed. During an interview with Variety earlier this year, he revealed:
“I started during COVID in 2020 and it’s gonna take me another 10 years. My arms are pretty much gone, and my hands and neck are gone. But I still have to do my torso and back. It was really just because I wasn’t taking care of myself."
While he referred to the pain as intense, he said that the removal process is cleansing for him.
“I used to be a drug addict and I was a sad person, and I felt ugly and that I needed to be covered up,” he shared. “So I’m just removing them and starting fresh, because that’s what I think works best for me and for my brain.”
Miley Cyrus announced that her visual album, Something Beautiful, was forthcoming back in March. The film will be making its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival later this month, and it chronicles the singer's life across various periods.
