Beyoncé's BeyGOOD Foundation, which was founded and established by the singer in 2013, has donated $100,000 to Texas Southern University's Ocean of Soul Marching Band. The donation is a part of the singer's initiatives to support historically Black colleges and universities. The donation is set to support the band's musical excellence and academic achievement.

Texas Southern University President J.W. Crawford III expressed gratitude to the pop star and her foundation for the donation, saying,

"We are deeply appreciative of the BeyGood Foundation for this significant demonstration of its commitment to empowering our student musicians and elevating their form of artistic expression."

Texas Southern University's Ocean of Soul band performed front and center alongside the singer at the halftime show of the 2024 Christmas Day "Beyoncé Bowl" game.

Band director Brian Simmons, in a news release while announcing the donation, said,

"The Ocean of Soul is known for its signature sound, precision, and choreography. Mrs. Knowles - Carter's vision for the 'Beyoncé Bowl' challenged us to reach new heights, and our students met that challenge with energy, soul and discipline. Being handpicked for this performance underscores the legacy of Texas Southern."

Charlie Coleman III, senior associate vice president of development & alumni engagement, said,

"This partnership does more than support the Ocean of Soul - it opens doors for our students to engage with the arts in transformative ways, inspired by one of the most influential artists of our time. It exemplifies how philanthropy can uplift communities and ignite futures."

Beyoncé's BeyGood Foundation's $100,000 donation to Texas Southern University's marching band, Ocean of Soul, will fund scholarships for band members, enhance recruitment, retention efforts, and upgrade brand infrastructure and technology.

The singer's BeyGood Foundation has made many philanthropic contributions over time, including the LA Fire Relief Fund, where she distributed $3 million to over 200 residents.

As per HBCU Buzz, the singer, as part of her "Beychella" performance, also launched the Homecoming Scholars Award Program, which awards $25,000 scholarships to students at several HBCUs.

Her donations were a part of her initiative to donate a total $100k in scholarship funds to historically black universities.
