Polish tennis player Kamil Majchrzak handed his hat to a young fan at the US Open.
However, a man standing beside the child took the hat from him. The incident was captured on video, which has now been circulating on social media.
Kamil Majchrzak also posted an Instagram story about the incident, writing:
“After the match I didn't record that my сар didn't get to the boy Thanks to @asicstennis I've got enough caps, so I'm prepared for that. Hey Guys, could you help me find the Kid from my match @usopen @eurosportpl. If it's you (or your parents see this), please send me a DM.”

In the next story, Kamil Majchrzak wrote that he was able to find the boy. However, social media users seemed displeased with the unidentified man's actions. One X user commented:
“That's the biggest douche in America on the right. Stealing a hat meant for a kid at the U.S. Open. It would be a shame if someone recognized him.”
Another netizen criticised the person, saying:
“Look at them smiling stealing from a kid.”
One platform user noted that it was odd for an old man to collect autographs. They wrote:
“A grown man collecting autographs is one of the oddest things I’ll never understand. You also have to be a big bag of sh*t to do that to a child.”
A social media user referenced the Coldplay concert incident, saying:
“I suspect this man may feel similar regret to the Coldplay CEO shortly.”
Others noted that the man and the boy might be related, as one X user commented:
“He knows the kid the way I see it. That was a whole family trying to get autographs and gear. He handled the boy a marker after swiping up the hat.”
