TD Jakes has alleged that he was the target of 44,000 AI bots that spread rumors about him being a regular at Diddy's infamous "freak-off" parties.
In a new video circulating online, the famed Christian leader defended himself against the long-standing rumors that he had been to several of Diddy's parties, noting,
"When the [rumors] first broke out it was 44,000 bots that were released on me, and for people who read swoops, who does investigation for NBC and other news outlets, discovered that 98% of them were all artificial intelligence-generated." He added, "The other thing that really proved to me, to Oprah, to Denzel, to all the people is that it's everybody. We have got to stop getting our information from TikTok."
He added,
"That's kinda water under the bridge. If there were anything there, the FBI would have been all over it. It's like when I had my health scare—within seconds, it was all over the world, you wouldn't have to find it on Instagram or YouTube. You would find it on the 6 o'clock news."
Bishop TD Jakes denies rumors
Just last month, Bishop TD Jakes sat down for a conversation with Oprah, who was also similarly accused of attending Diddy's high-profile parties. The latter was on trial at the time on charges related to s*x trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy.
Several rumors circulated online that both Oprah and TD Jakes were regular attendees at the parties, with AI-generated images also circulating online. At the time, the billionaire businesswoman said:
“I have never been near a Puff party.” Winfrey, 71, continued: “Anybody who knows me knows if there is a party, I’m the first one out. The nature of my personality is that I am not a party person. That is not who I am. I like to sit at home with my thoughts by the fire, with the dogs.”
The 68-year-old church leader, who recently stepped back from his role as senior pastor of the Dallas megachurch The Potter’s House of Dallas, admitted to visiting one of the parties, though only for a half-hour:
“I stopped by Puffy’s house for 30 minutes to say happy birthday to him during the day at two o’clock with staff people,” he said. As for rumors claiming he was linked to Combs romantically, he said: “I am almost 70 years old. What do I look like? I am a grandfather.”
Late last year, the celebrity pastor tried to get the court to intervene in the spread of AI-generated misinformation. In December, Dustin Pusch, TD Jakes' lawyer, slammed YouTube for failing to uphold its own policies on the matter. He filed a motion in the Northern District of California to subpoena Google, the parent company of the video blogging company.
He sought to find out the identities of four YouTube accounts that were spreading misinformation. NBC News has reported that these accounts hailed from Pakistan, South Africa, the Philippines, and Kenya.
TD Jakes recently passed the baton of his church leadership to his daughter, Sarah Jakes Roberts, and son-in-law, Toure Roberts. Back in 2024, he suffered a health scare during a live broadcast of his sermon. His family later confirmed that he was doing fine and recovering.
